TIGERS GET THE CHOICE
GLASGOW secured second place in the Cab Direct Championship and choice of legs for the play-off semi-finals with a tense 50-40 win over Scunthorpe.
The sides will meet once again in the knockout stages and it was the Tigers who just took the edge from their league clashes, with the battle for the aggregate point going down to the wire.
Glasgow secured it with a 4-2 in Heat 15 as Leon Flint got the better of the previously unbeaten Josh Pickering, whilst guest Dan Thompson added the vital third place.
Flint scored 10+3 and Thompson 10+2 for the Tigers, whilst Pickering’s 17-point haul for the Scorpions included a race win from the 15-metre handicap in Heat 11 after he had been penalised at the start. Reserve Connor Mountain added 10+2 for the visitors.
Tigers manager Cami Brown said: “We got the result we wanted, but only by the skin of our teeth really.
“I was pleased that it was Leon who beat Josh Pickering to seal the win and second place in the league table. To get any victory over Josh at the moment is an achievement.
“To finish second in the league is impressive really considering we lost one of our top riders and we’ve had two guests for the last two months.
“It means we’ve gone through the regular league season undefeated at home and that’s been vital.”

EDINBURGH are now six points clear at the top of the WSRA National Development League table after a 51-39 win over Oxford at Armadale.
The Monarchs Academy made it six wins out of six so far with victory over the Chargers, with consecutive 5-1s in Heats 8 and 9 proving vital to the result.
Vinnie Foord (12+2), Jordy Loftus (11+1) and Dayle Wood (11) were all in double figures for the hosts, with Loftus inflicting the only defeat upon Oxford No.1 Jody Scott (14). Ashton Vale added 10 for the visitors.
Loftus said: “It’s always good to get a win. We all had mechanical issues but we got through it, we worked hard and kept pushing.
“I got a good jump on Jody in Heat 1 and got the win, but in heat 13 I had an uncontrollable wheelie!
“In Heat 15 I didn’t expect him to cut back under, he surprised me going in to turn three. Fair play to him he’s a good racer, but we’re happy to stay unbeaten.”
Vale said: “We did well tonight, because Edinburgh are such a strong team and they are completely dialled into this track.
“I’ve had a wicked time riding for the Chargers this season. We’d had a few injuries and a few problems, but we enjoy racing together and it’s all building up nicely.”
