GT BRITAIN’S WORLD TEAM CUP FINAL QUALIFICATION
GREAT Britain are through to the Speedway World Cup Final after negotiating Friday’s semi-final in Landshut, Germany.
Skipper Robert Lambert scored 14 points from five rides with Belle Vue’s Dan Bewley adding 13 as GB finished nine points clear of the Czech Republic who edged out the hosts for second placed on countback, with Ukraine fourth.
Ipswich star Tom Brennan picked up nine points with Sheffield and Glasgow’s Leon Flint scoring three on his debut at this level, whilst reserve Will Cairns did not race.
Bewley said: “I remember watching the World Cup on livestream in the pits at Glasgow when it was at Leszno in 2017. It has always been a cool meeting.
“I think it’s the peak of speedway – that’s the biggest meeting there is. It’s a World Cup year and racing the Final in Warsaw is something extra special.”
The Final takes place on August 29 where GB will face Poland, Australia and the winners of the second semi-final.

WORKINGTON gave their hopes of BSN Series qualification a major boost with a 47-43 win at Scunthorpe on Friday.
The Comets were victorious in a thrilling last-heat decider at the Eddie Wright Raceway as Jonas Jeppesen and Tate Zischke collected a 4-2 over Josh Pickering and Luke Harrison.
That clinched an away win after the visitors had previously seen an eight-point lead whittled back to level pegging by a Scorpions comeback..
Jeppesen and Zischke both scored for the Comets with Troy Batchelor on 10+2 as they covered for the injured Craig Cook, whilst Pickering racked up 14+1 from six rides for the home side.

EDINBURGH duo Kye Thomson and Dan Thompson both scored maximums in the Monarchs’ 54-36 BSN Series victory over Berwick.
Thomson went through the card with five rides and five wins for the full 15, whilst Thompson picked himself up from a Heat 1 crash with Peter Kildemand to score 13+2, following Thomson home for 5-1s in Heats 13 and 15.
Justin Sedgmen added 9+2 for the home side, who were comfortable winners with the Bandits hampered by the withdrawal of Kildemand who suffered a collarbone injury and concussion.
Thomson said: “It’s been a slow start with two home draws, some of us firing and some having a few dramas.
“But we’re talking a lot and trying to help the young ones get going. Tonight we’ve come out on top against a strong side.”
Nick Morris (11+1) and Victor Palovaara (10) reached double figures for Berwick, who host the return fixture at Shielfield Park tonight (Saturday) with Sam Hagon guesting for the injured Reid Battye.
Manager Stewart Dickson said: “Edinburgh have out-trapped us all night and we’ve been beaten by the better side.
“It was a difficult start, losing our No.1 straight away, and our thoughts are with Peter. It was a nasty looking crash and put us up against it immediately.
“But we regroup, Saturday is another day and we have to put pressure on Edinburgh from the off and see where that takes us.”
BERWICK: TBC, Jye Etheridge, Victor Palovaara, Lasse Fredriksen, Nick Morris, Jack Smith, Sam Hagon.
EDINBURGH: TBC, Jonatan Grahn, Justin Sedgmen, Paco Castagna, Kye Thomson, Mitchell Cluff, Jordy Loftus.

THE Northern section of the BSN Series will be decided in a straight shootout between Workington and Redcar at the GT Tyres Arena tonight (Saturday).
Both sides are level on five points in the group heading into the final fixture, meaning it’s winner takes all in Cumbria, with the Bears having the slight advantage that a draw would also be enough for them to progress.
But even an aggregate point for Redcar, who lead 48-42 going into the fixture, could be valuable to the defending holders as that may be enough to secure the best runners-up spot pending the results in the Scottish section this weekend.
The Comets continue to manage injuries and have booked Kyle Howarth to guest for Craig Cook with Ryan Ingram replacing Vinnie Foord, whilst rider replacement is in operation for Niklas Holm Jakobsen against a full strength Bears side.
Workington manager James Denham said: “We do have some positive news with both Vinnie and Niklas who are progressing well and are aiming to be back within the next few weeks.
“The lads are confident they can turn around the six-point deficit against Redcar. It will be a challenge as they go well around our place, especially their No.1 Nicolai Klindt, but the boys know exactly what’s required.”
WORKINGTON: Jonas Jeppesen, Niklas Holm Jakobsen R/R, Kyle Howarth, Tate Zischke, Troy Batchelor, Ryan Ingram, Max Perry.
REDCAR: Nicolai Klindt, Jake Mulford, Jordan Jenkins, Jake Allen, Jason Edwards, Ace Pijper, Jody Scott.

MIDDLESBROUGH completed the WSRA National Development League double over champions Oxford with a 45-44 win in a dramatic clash at the Ecco Arena.
The Tigers appeared to have moved into a comfortable position with a 5-0 in Heat 9 and a 5-1 in Heat 10 to go eleven points up.
But the Chargers fought back strongly with three 5-1s in the last four races, only to be hampered by a controversial Heat 14 disqualification for Ashton Vale, who tangled with Charlie Southwick, as they fell just short.
Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “Charlie Southwick already had something wrong with his bike and he lost his chain going down the straight with a lap to go in Heat 14.
“The lad was totally honest about that after the race – I don’t have any problem with him or anyone from the Redcar/Middlesbrough management.
“Ashton had no choice but to go inside him. He passed him cleanly, but Charlie was just a passenger going into the first turn and he had no chance of remaining on board.
“Yes, there was contact at that point, but I can’t see how that could possibly have been Ashton’s fault – he was still in control of his machine, where Charlie wasn’t, because he didn’t have a chain on his bike.”
Southwick impressed with 12+1 from six rides and skipper Ace Pijper scored 10, whilst Jody Scott (14) and Darryl Ritchings (10+2) both hit double figures for the visitors.
