FIM GP CHALLENGE LINE-UP CONFIRMED
The line-up for the FIM SGP Challenge in Pardubice, Friday, October 4, has been confirmed, with current Speedway GP star Dominik Kubera, Kai Huckenbeck and Jan Kvech among the riders bidding for 2025 Speedway GP qualification.
Four guaranteed places in the 2025 Speedway GP World Championship are up for grabs in one of the sport’s most hard-fought contests as 16 riders battle it out over 20 high-stakes heats.
Kubera fell just eight points short of the top-six automatic qualification places, despite reaching Speedway GP finals in Landshut, Prague and Cardiff. German racer Huckenbeck also hopes to retain his spot in Speedway GP for another season, having reached three semi-finals this year, while Czech champion Kvech bids to build on his first semi appearance in Torun last Saturday.
But they face huge competition from the likes of former world number two Patryk Dudek, this year’s Speedway GP reserves Max Fricke and Rasmus Jensen, Danish Champion Anders Thomsen and FIM Speedway of Nations silver medallist Brady Kurtz.
Speedway European Championship bronze medallist Kacper Woryna is also in the running, along with Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Italian champion Paco Castagna.
Speedway GP stars Robert Lambert, Dan Bewley and Jack Holder all stand down from the line-up after booking their 2025 SGP places by finishing inside this season’s top six, with SEC champion Andzejs Lebedevs also not needing to take his place in Pardubice and event reserve Martin Vaculik stepping aside after also reaching the SGP top six. Sweden’s Antonio Lindback also sits out the event.
This opens the door for Australia’s Jaimon Lidsey, who won his 2020 FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship in Pardubice, as well as Britain’s double FIM Speedway of Nations World Champion Tom Brennan, Danish international Frederik Jakobsen and double Swedish Champion Jacob Thorssell. German star Kevin Wolbert is also called up.
