STARS’ IMPRESSIVE VICTORY
KING’S Lynn raced to derby day success over local rivals Ipswich with a 54-36 win to take match and aggregate points at the Adrian Flux Arena.
The Stars had lost all four previous meetings with the Witches this season but they turned the tables in emphatic style with their new line-up and riding order paying dividends.
Ben Cook top-scored for the second time this week with 13 points, and he combined with Max Fricke (10+1) for a 5-1 in Heat 15 which made sure of maximum points from the meeting.
Lynn had also taken a 5-1 in Heat 14 involving new signing Jordan Jenkins (9+2) as they overturned a ten-point deficit from the reverse fixture.
Former Stars rider Richard Lawson piled up 14 points from six rides for the visitors, including four race wins, but they left Norfolk with a concern over skipper Danny King after a heavy fall in his last ride.
King’s Lynn manager Rob Lyon said:“ I was a little surprised by the final scoreline because Ipswich have proved already this year that they’ve got a solid outfit, apart from the odd result.
“But it was a good team performance from ourselves, and it’s what we’ve been waiting for all year really – a good, solid, all-round performance.
“Jordan has had a good spell of form lately, and I think that was the difference between getting that big win and a tight win. He rode fantastic, and it’s good to see.”
Ipswich boss Paul Hurry said: “Danny picked up and went into the fence hard. He took a knock between his shoulders and his neck. His head went back, and he was lucky not to knock himself out.
“They all tried. I made the changes needed to get us back into the meeting, and thankfully, Richard did the business with Tobi (Tobiasz Musielak) as a tactical sub.”

LEICESTER held off the challenge of Northampton to record a 49-41 win at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park.
The Lions always led the meeting but were never allowed to stretch too far clear, with 5-1s to the home side in Heats 10 and 11 proving crucial.
Ryan Douglas (12+2) and Dan Thompson (12+1) combined for three 5-1s with Douglas dropping his only point to Foxes skipper Nicolai Klindt in Heat 13, whilst Thompson was unbeaten until the final race when Troy Batchelor split the home riders. Lions second-string Kyle Howarth withdrew after two rides following a heavy fall in Heat 3.
Klindt won three races for the Foxes to finish on 10 points, whilst Batchelor enjoyed his best meeting this season in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership with 9+1.
Leicester manager Stewart Dickson said: “I think after not racing for five weeks at home you’re almost starting again, and I think you could see it with some of our performances.
“I always thought it would be a tough meeting, because Northampton have riders who like this track, so I’m happy with the two points, and we’ll worry about the aggregate point when we go there.
“Our opening pairing of Dougy and Dan got us three 5-1s, and the fact that the two of them were in Heat 15 showed that at the moment those are the two who are riding at the top of their game.”
Northampton boss Chris Adams said: “We kept on plugging away and to lose by eight away from home is a credible performance, and it was really Heats 10 and 11 which took the wind out of our sails.
“Nicolai won three races in succession after a slow start, and it was good to see Troy having a better night tonight.
“I would maybe have used the tactical substitute a little earlier but it didn’t seem that we would be coming off the right gates, so when it came to Heat 14 I just felt we had to throw everything at it and try to reduce that deficit so we have a better chance of getting the aggregate when they return to us later in the year.”

POOLE’S Australian racer Fraser Bowes will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after medical investigations revealed a building disc in his back.
Bowes, who joined the Pirates from Workington over the winter, has been struggling with the injury since a crash at Wimborne Road on May 20, and an MRI scan has now estimated the recovery period at between three and six months.
Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “We’re all absolutely devastated for Fraser. Nobody has seen the amount of effort he has been putting in behind the scenes to get himself back on a bike, but he has continually been hampered by pain and setbacks and now we know why.
“Everyone at Poole wishes Fraser the very best with his recovery and we hope to see him back in British Speedway next season.
“We’ll be working hard behind the scenes to identify the right replacement. We don’t want to rush into anything, but equally we know we need to strengthen the team if we’re to achieve what we want to this season. Hopefully we’ll have some news for supporters in the coming weeks.”

GLASGOW boss Cami Brown wants the Cab Direct Championship leaders to return home with a bang when they face Oxford tonight (Friday).
The Tigers are racing at Ashfield for the first time in seven weeks having suffered two recent rain-offs, but they have done impressive work on the road with wins in the reverse fixture at Cowley, and also at Workington.
They face a Cheetahs side looking to lift themselves up the table during a weekend northern tour which also takes in a visit to Berwick on Saturday.
Glasgow bring in Vinnie Foord to guest for Mario Hausl who is racing in the German national championship, whilst Max Perry stands in for Mitch McDiarmid (Polish commitment) for the visitors.
Brown said: “We’ve just got to keep building on the two excellent away results. There are now a run of home meetings on the bounce in July. We need to win them all to stay in that top four of the table. I want us to come back to Ashfield with a bang.
“The boys have really stepped it up over the past two or three weeks. I felt we had an extra level once every rider clicked on the same night and that has been the case.
“But that means nothing at the moment. We need to stay in the top four of the league table. Every point is going to count over the next two months.”
Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “Our approach this weekend is no different to any other meetings. We’ll take it one step at a time and our first task is to put up a good account of ourselves at Glasgow.”
GLASGOW: Kyle Howarth, Vinnie Foord, Chris Harris, Kevin Juhl Pedersen, Leon Flint, Sam Hagon, Freddy Hodder.
OXFORD: Sam Masters, Max Perry, Edward Kennett, Anders Rowe, Luke Killeen, Darryl Ritchings, Dayle Wood.

SCUNTHORPE look to consolidate their place in the Cab Direct Championship play-offs through a run of home matches starting tonight (Friday) against Plymouth.
The Scorpions are due to race on their own circuit for four successive weeks, giving them the opportunity to build on their current third position.
Dan Gilkes returns from injury for a full strength home side, whilst the Gladiators start the meeting fifth in the table after their home defeat to Edinburgh last Saturday, and they have Tate Zischke guesting for the injured Ben Barker.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Our away results have given us excellent opportunities to add to our tally of aggregate points in the coming weeks, and that will be crucial in the battle for a play-off place.
“It’s important to get three points on the board against Plymouth to carry on the good work. We only lost by eight at Plymouth, so we need to hit 50 points. If everyone is on form, that will hopefully be an achievable target.
“It’s a ‘must-win and get the aggregate’, like they all are now. We are in a good spot thanks to those excellent away performances but we must approach every home meeting with that ‘must-win’ mindset to make sure we don’t muck things up and undo all the good work on our travels.”
SCUNTHORPE: Josh Pickering, Connor Mountain, Dan Gilkes, Luke Harrison, Michael Palm Toft, Ryan Ingram, Nathan Ablitt.
PLYMOUTH: Danny King, Joe Thompson, Daniel Klima, Tate Zischke, Scott Nicholls, Anze Grmek, Ben Whalley.

REDCAR host Berwick in the first leg of their BSN Series semi-final at the ECCO Arena tonight (Friday) with Poole awaiting the aggregate winners in the Final.
The Bandits go into the meeting on a high after their MAXiCab KO Cup semi-final triumph over the Pirates last week, but boss Stewart Dickson insists they must now focus on a new task.
Reid Battye returns from injury for the visitors, who also track Jordan Jenkins in their middle-order for his first racing appearance at the Teeesside venue since leaving the Bears earlier this season.
The home side continue with Nicolai Klindt at No.1 despite Charles Wright’s recent return to the track for practice session after injury.
Dickson said: “We thoroughly deserved to beat Poole and reach the Cup final, but that was last week. We start again on Friday night.
“We’ll approach Redcar in the same way we did Poole. Concentrate fully, apply ourselves and do our jobs for the 15 heats.”
REDCAR: Nicolai Klindt, Simon Lambert, Jake Mulford, Jason Edwards, Jake Allen, Ace Pijper, Jody Scott.
BERWICK: Peter Kildemand, Jye Etheridge, Victor Palovaara, Jordan Jenkins, Nick Morris, Jack Smith, Reid Battye.
