Swedish teenager Leo Klasson makes the step up to FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship action after being named as BST FIM SGP2 of Sweden – Malilla wild card for Friday, July 10.
Klasson wears the number 16 wild-card race jacket as he steps up from SGP3 for 2026. The 16-year-old reached the 2023 and 2024 FIM Speedway Youth World Championship (SGP3) Finals for 250cc, under-16 riders, achieving a 10th place at the 2024 edition in Gorzow, Poland.
He now tests himself in 500cc action as the 2026 FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship gets underway in Malilla – 24 hours before the Skrotfrag Arena stages its 20th Speedway GP event on Saturday, July 11.
Klasson races for Smederna in Sweden’s Bauhaus Elitserien, as well as competing for Ornarna in the Allsvenskan League.
Klasson is joined at the Skrotfrag Arena by fellow Swedish racer Rasmus Karlsson, winner of the 2023 FIM SGP3 Final – Malilla, who has been awarded a permanent wild card for the 2026 SGP2 series.
The Malilla line-up is completed by track reserves Alfons Wiltander and Harry Lundahl, who wear the No.17 and No.18 race jackets respectively.
Fans can also catch the BST FIM SGP4 World Championship – Malilla for riders aged 11-13, which takes place on the Skrotfrag Arena’s training track on Saturday, July 11 from 11:00 CEST. Entry for SGP4 is free.
