THE NSW Late Models are currently preparing for a big 2026-27 season and the highlight of their schedule is without doubt the 2027 running of the Australian Late Model Championship at Western Sydney Speedway.
For the new season, the NSW Late Models have revealed a tidy schedule that comprises 14 nights spread between their main track, Western Sydney Speedway, and two regional venues: Dubbo Speedway and Goulburn Speedway.
Out of the 14 nights this coming season, the NSW Late Models will be appearing mainly at Western Sydney Speedway with a total of eight events on the schedule, as the focus of most drivers is the Australian Championship on home soil.
With this season’s Australian Championship at Western Sydney Speedway on February 11, 12 and 13, it presents the best opportunity for the NSW drivers to create history and become the very first Australian Late Model Championship winner from NSW since the official Australian formation of the Late Model class in 1998.
Last season’s Australian Championship at Toowoomba Speedway in Queensland saw one of the closest chances to breaking the NSW drought with Todd Bayley nearly taking out the win, but he went on to lose the lead in the closing stages to eventual winner Kye Blight. Bayley ended up finishing second while fellow NSW-based racer Ben Nicastri joined him on the podium in third. There is no doubt that both Bayley and Nicastri are eager to stand at the top step of the podium in this season’s Sydney-held Australian Championship.
Apart from the Australian Championship, another big event on the schedule is the second running of the Motul Dirt Late Model Series that will be fought out throughout the season. Bayley is the defending Motul Dirt Late Model Series Champion, after he defeated Lachlan Onley and Darryl Grimson in the final point standings, and he is aiming to defend his crown.
Other NSW-based heavy hitters in Nicastri, Onley, Grimson and Daniel Cassidy are primed to be battle it out at the pointy end of the field throughout the 2026-27 season campaign and get into victory lane as often as possible.
Completing the NSW driver line up for this coming season is set to be youngster Jacob Croker, Damien Hodges, David Cassidy, Stewart Jordan, ex NSW Champion Nathan Disney, Josh Gorham, Mark Letham, Joel Carrig, Ed Borg, Aaron Barnes, Mark Towers, Liam Heaton and Shannon Jennings.
With the Australian Championship and the Motul Dirt Late Model Series being the headlining events of the 2026-27 season, the NSW Late Models’ other major events include the NSW title at Dubbo Speedway on April 24 and the Easternapolis at Western Sydney Speedway on May 14 and 15.
For the second season in a row, Motul Australia, together with DC Oceanic — Motul’s distributor across NSW & ACT — are the proud sponsors of the Motul Dirt Late Model Series. When the green drops, there’s no room for excuses. Horsepower. Speed. Heat. Pressure. That’s where Motul thrives.
