THAT SPECIAL GP EXPERIENCE
BELLE Vue CEO Mark Lemon says supporters attending this weekend’s FIM Grand Prix of Manchester double header can expect an enhanced experience – in addition to thrilling racing from the sport’s top stars.
The National Speedway Stadium made its debut on the GP calendar last year with the Friday event hailed by many as the best meeting in the 30-year history of the series, and with further drama and excitement following on Saturday.
Lemon says the club have put into practice the off-track learnings from 2025 as they look ahead to this year’s event.
He said: “Last year was the biggest event we had staged at the National Speedway Stadium. The support, the excitement, the build-up… ticket sales were fantastic.
“We had some teething problems with the East Stand but managed to rectify those from the Friday night to the Saturday.
“Everything from catering to customer experience, we’ve learnt a lot. Hopefully we’ve put that practice into place now for this upcoming Grand Prix.
“There’s more food courts and increased Fan Zone activities. We’ve got a park and-ride in place this time and we’ve worked with the city council in trying to make the experience more enjoyable for supporters.
“The track produces phenomenal racing, week-in, week-out, whether it’s National League, Premiership or Grand Prix, when you’ve got the best in the world tearing it up.
“Our track staff are led by Andy Meredith and we’ve brought Jonathan Swales in to help with that like we did last year. It’s a first class team all around.”
Limited tickets for the Friday event remain available from https://sgpmanchester.com .

REDCAR youngster Jody Scott is hoping home track knowledge plays a part when he competes in the British Under-21 Final at the ECCO Arena on Sunday.
Scott and fellow Bears racer Ace Pijper are both amongst the favourites for the event, and having ridden for the Teesside outfit for the last year Scott admits it gives him plenty of confidence.
He said: “Luckily enough it’s at Redcar so I have quite a bit of experience there now from last year and this year.
“I’m going to put all my knowledge into one in that meeting, and try to claim it. If I don’t then I’ll learn a lot from it, and I’ve still got a couple of years left in it, but this year is definitely the year I want it.
“This meeting progresses a lot of youngsters. I did my first one when I was 15 years old back in 2022, that was my first year on a 500cc, and I learnt so much from it.
“I’ve managed to get in it ever since then and I love every minute of it. This year is going to be a tough one again and I’m looking forward to it.”
