FIM SPEEDWAY: TIME OFF FOR KILLEEN
Great Britain Under-21 star Luke Killeen has confirmed he is facing 10 days on the sidelines after crashing out of Cab Direct Championship club Oxford’s match at home to Poole on Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old lifted dramatically coming off the final turn in heat eight of the MAXiCab Knockout Cup quarter final, first leg.
Cooper Rushen worked wonders to dodge him, but teammate Darryl Ritchings unable to avoid Killeen.
The Perth-born star withdrew from the remainder of a meeting, which Poole won 49-39 and he could now miss FIM Speedway of Nations – SON2 – Prague on Friday, May 22, subject to confirmation from the FIM.
Posting on Instagram on Thursday, he wrote: “Not just your typical bad night in the office, definitely feeling it today.
“Blew up an engine in heat one. In heat six, we got to enjoy a bit of racing in the hail, and to finish it off, on the run to the line while leading heat eight, I flipped it off some unexpected drive and there was nothing I could do to save it.
“A massive thank you to Cooper, Darryl and Will (Cairns) for taking avoiding action. However, I did get clipped by a couple riders, which leaves me with a 10-day concussion ban. Thank you to everyone for all the well wishes.”
GB takes on hosts Czech Republic, 2025 champions Germany, Denmark, Australia, Poland, Sweden and SON2 debutants Ukraine over an epic 28 heats for the FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship in Prague.
