WESTERN SYDNEY SPEEDWAY TRACK MANAGER MITCH BINER TO RESIGN ON MAY 29
By Dennis Newlyn.
Mitch Biner will step down from his position of track manager at Easter Creek’s Western Sydney Speedway on May 29.
He announced his resignation on Thursday, May 14.
Biner has been in the job for less than 12 months after he was declared the incumbent in July 2025 as the replacement for outgoing manager Garry Willmington. Biner’s appointment was later confirmed under the lease agreement of the venue with Western Sydney Dragway in October 2025.
In a statement from Biner soon after announcing his resignation he did not shy away from the fact the position carried with it plenty of highs and lows, but he was looking forward to continuing his speedway involvement.
His statement said in part: “Despite the challenges, I remain incredibly proud of what was achieved in a relatively short period of time.
“Together, we brought genuine momentum back into speedway in Sydney. Most importantly, though, we rebuilt relationships across so many areas of the sport and for that I will always be grateful. Speedway motorcycles returned to Sydney for the first time in around 20 years.
“One of the hardest parts of this role was being publicly positioned as the person leading speedway operations while often having little genuine authority over many of the major decisions ultimately shaping the direction of the product.
“I have absolutely no doubt that the future of speedway can sill be incredibly bright and I am genuinely looking forward to playing a significant role in some very exciting things still to come.
“Personally, I’m also looking forward to putting more time and energy into my family, Lake Liddell Speedbowl, POWRi Racing Australia and the many exciting projects still ahead.”
