HOLDER AND DOYLE INJURED IN GP OF POLAND, WROCLAW
SHEFFIELD and Belle Vue have injury concerns after Jack Holder and Jason Doyle both crashed out of Saturday’s FIM Speedway GP of Poland at Wroclaw.
Tigers No.1 Holder and recent Aces signing Doyle were involved in a frightening three-rider pile-up on the first bend of Heat 7, which also involved Polish rider Kacper Woryna who was able to continue in the meeting.
Doyle returned to the pits but was put into a neck brace and withdrew from his remaining rides, whilst Holder was taken to hospital with further news awaited.
The meeting was won by World Champion Bartosz Zmazlik, who resumes the World Championship lead after Belle Vue skipper Brady Kurtz was relegated to fourth place in the Final.
Great Britain’s Robert Lambert was a strong second, and is now third overall, with Michael Jepsen Jensen completing the podium finishers on the night.

ALL three Great Britain representatives have qualified for the European Under-19 Final after coming through their respective semi-finals on Saturday.
Will Cairns of Belle Vue and Poole took top billing as he won the Hungarian semi-final at Debrecen, scoring 14 points from his five rides. That left him one point ahead of Danish rider Jacob Jensen.
Ironically Cairns dropped his only point to fellow GB rider Luke Harrison in Heat 6, with the Scunthorpe and Northampton rider also making it through on ten points.
Meanwhile Cooper Rushen (King’s Lynn and Poole) raced at Czech Republic venue Plzen and finished in a solid fourth place scoring 11 points.
Rushen was kept off the podium by a Polish one-two-three led by Bartosz Banbor, but he still comfortably went through thanks to two race wins and two seconds in his opening four rides.
The Final takes place at Slovenian venue Krsko on September 5.

GLASGOW roared to a second away win in the space of four days with an impressive 51-39 victory at Workington.
The Tigers have made significant inroads in the Cab Direct Championship play-off race over their last two fixtures, and back-to-back successes leave them well placed in the top four.
A sensational start for the visitors saw them open up a 16-point advantage after just seven races at the GT Tyres Arena, leaving the hosts looking at damage limitation at best.
Leon Flint led the Glasgow scoring with 11 points from four rides, backed up by Chris Harris (9+2), Kyle Howarth (9) and reserve Mario Hausl with an impressive 8+1. Tate Zischke notched 11 from six rides for the Comets.
Tigers manager Cami Brown said: “Mario really was super and he has delivered two fantastic performances this week. He got paid eight at Oxford and then paid nine here at Workington. He was outstanding in both meetings.
“People forget he’s only 19 but he’s starting to find his feet and is now doing a great job for us.
“But it was another proper team performance. Our boys won the first seven races and really suffocated Workington, we didn’t give them a sniff.
“A week ago I said I felt we were a whisker away from getting the results we needed and we’ve got ourselves into a strong position. Now we’ve just got to keep this run going.”

BERWICK were impressive 56-34 winners over Scunthorpe at Shielfield Park – although the Scorpions have still gone top of the Cab Direct Championship table.
A 28-point advantage from the reverse fixture was enough for the Scorpions to claim the aggregate point on Saturday, but it was a clear Bandits victory on the night, and they would have been closer to their ultimate target but for a chain failure for Jye Etheridge whilst they were set for a 5-1.
Recent signing Jordan Jenkins starred once again with 11+2 at reserve, being unbeaten in his first four rides, whilst Peter Kildemand scored 13 and Victor Palovaara added 12.
The visitors only had four scoring riders and all but eight of their points were accrued by Josh Pickering (16) and reserve Nathan Ablitt (10+1).

PLYMOUTH fought back from a six-point deficit to overcome Oxford 50-39 in an eventful Cab Direct Championship clash at the Coliseum.
Scott Nicholls was again in vintage form with 17 points from six rides, and major scoring was added by Danny King with 12+4 and Joe Thompson with 10+2 as the Gladiators recovered spectacularly from being 27-21 down after eight races.
A 5-0 and a 5-1 in the next two heats transformed the meeting, and the home side completed the contest with two more 5-1s in the last two races to seal an 11-point victory.
Sam Masters top-scored for the Cheetahs with 11+1 as they completed a long weekend on the road with nothing to show for it in terms of their league points total.
Oxford racer Luke Killeen (8+2) said: “We put in plenty of effort tonight. But Mitch (McDiarmid) picked up a couple of exclusions – and some would say one of those was controversial – but it’s all part of the sport. Speedway can be a game of luck.
“It’s tough for us at the moment, but the team spirit is still running high and we’re communicating well. There are positive signs and we want to turn it around.”

BUXTON take a break from NDL racing today (Sunday) when they host a Best Pairs event at the Hi-Edge Raceway.
The line-up features several of the regular Bulls riders along with others associated with the club, who will take on the names of former teams for the day.
Bulls team manager Laurence Rogers said: “We’ve made things as even as we possibly can, and we’re looking forward to a good, entertaining meeting.
“We don’t see too many best pairs meetings, so we thought it would be something different for supporters and riders alike. It also teaches the younger riders the importance of team riding, which can pay off in league matches.”
