DYNAMIC DUO QUALIFY FOR FIM GRAND PRIX CHALLENGE
GREAT Britain duo Anders Rowe and Chris Harris are both through to the FIM Grand Prix Challenge after negotiating a dramatic Qualifier in changeable weather conditions at Glasgow.
German racer Kai Huckenbeck stormed to a classy 15-point maximum to win the meeting, but Rowe was the surprise package with his impressive 12-point haul sending in through in third place after missing out to his Sheffield team-mate Jack Holder in a run-off.
Rowe said: “I came into the meeting with no expectations. I had a bad week. I just went out there with no pressure and have some fun, enjoy my racing again.”
Home favourite Harris, meanwhile, took things right down to the wire after three riders tied on 11 points with only two places available, and whilst Frederik Jakobsen won a tense run-off, Harris held on to second place to go through at the expense of Maciej Janowski.
Harris said: “I’m obviously over the moon. I made hard work of it in the end.
“I started really well and lost points towards the end of the meeting. But it’s a nice feeling to get the last spot in the run-off.”
The qualifiers progress to the GP Challenge at Terenzano, Italy on July 25, where they will be joined by Robert Lambert who won his Qualifier earlier in the day in Zarnovica. Adam Ellis missed out at Glasgow on seven points.

WORKINGTON edged out Scunthorpe 46-44 in a last-heat decider at the GT Tyres Arena to put their first Cab Direct Championship points of the season on the board.
The Scorpions required a 5-1 from Heat 15 to snatch a draw, but whilst skipper Josh Pickering completed a paid maximum, Jonas Jeppesen took the crucial second place for the Comets ahead of Luke Harrison.
Jeppesen scored 13 points from six outings as he bounced back from a last place in Heat 1, whilst Tate Zischke (11+2) and Troy Batchelor (11+1) also reached double figures for the hosts.
Pickering led the visitors’ scoring with 14+1 whilst Harrison totalled nine.

LEICESTER look to complete the double over Buxton as the two sides meet in in the second leg of their NDL Challenge at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park today (Sunday).
The Lion Cubs won the reverse fixture 49-41 at Hi-Edge last month, with their home leg having been delayed by a rain-off at the start of the season.
Tom Spencer is missing for the hosts due to an ankle injury suffered at work, whilst the Bulls also operate rider replacement with skipper Jack Smith sidelined, whilst Ben Whalley replaces Jamie Etherington.
Leicester manager Jen Crossland said: “It was an excellent performance from the whole team when we won at Hi-Edge last month, and now we want another strong display.
“We only need 42 points to secure the aggregate win, but I won’t be mentioning that at all on our track walk, because this is about winning on the day and continuing to build momentum.”
Buxton boss Laurence Rogers said: “Jack has informed me that his osteopath has told him that he needs to rest the ankle he hurt in last Sunday’s home win (over Stoke) or else it may get worse, and we want him fit for the league campaign.”
