AUNGER APPOINTED MANAGER FOR 2024/2025 SPRINTCAR SPEEDWEEK
Official release: Sprintcar Speedweek June 19, 2024
Wade Aunger has been appointed Manager of the upcoming 2024/2025 Sprintcar Speedweek.
For a couple of months now Aunger has been working behind the scenes on the intricacies of both the logistics and the publicity elements of the ‘five nights in seven days series’ held between December 26-January 1 this coming summer including Murray Bridge Speedway, Tolmer Speedway (Bordertown), Borderline Speedway (Mount Gambier), Avalon Raceway (Lara) and Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway.
Initially involved as the co-creator of the WSS Speedweek Series nearly twenty five years ago, Aunger has recently been the announcer for Speedweek for the last two seasons.
His appointment now in a more comprehensive managerial and publicity role for 2024/2025 has been a key development in some of the major steps forward for the annual series.
“We’ve been working closely with the promoters group and several Sprintcar teams for several weeks now to fine tune the Speedweek product from a fan, a team and a promoter’s perspective. The unity and the common communication between teams and promoters has been really inspiring to be honest.
“The teams have a great deal to contribute in how we present the series and I can’t thank them enough for their honesty and their forward thinking,” Aunger said.
“The promoters of the five venues have never been more in tune with the teams and the series with how it relates to all parties and I feel like we’re in a better position than ever to promote a 2025 spec-relevant, entertaining, fan and driver product. I can’t wait for December 26.”
The Speedweek fan and driver experience is being completely revamped.
“There is a new emphasis on fan engagement and driver interaction,” Aunger further explained.
“We’ve worked hard to find some middle ground on some really important elements involved in a night out at the Speedway – specifically a Speedweek night out. I think we’re making huge inroads.”
Aunger is responsible for team and promoter liaison, marketing, publicity, the production of a post-produced TV Series in addition to revamping and re-creating the Clayperview.com streaming experience and much more.
“I have some exciting ideas to implement and most importantly I think we have the harmony between teams and promoters in how we present those things going forward.”
“The time is right to take Sprintcar Speedweek to the next level in many ways,” enthused Aunger – pictured here with renowned TV cameraman and producer Richard Rowley who will be part of a special team to document and capture the TV essence of the series, the teams and the venues.
“I think we can make this series the benchmark for multiple track-multiple round events and also in the longer term be a leading part of the revolution of how a night of Speedway should be experienced.”
