National Sprintcar Champion Marcus Dumesny makes his return to racing at Eastern Creek Speedway, Saturday night, November 12.
There’s also interest in the AMCA division featuring the debut of Late Model Sedan state and national title winner, Ross Nicastri who will make his debut in the AMCA class Saturday night.
Meanwhile, son of a gun Marcus has been cooling his heels on the sideline due to several reasons but he finally gets the opportunity to take his place amongst close to 40 Sprintcar entries received for this coming weekend.
“It was a case of a tyre shortage, also not being completely organised and fully ready for the start of the season. I have also been waiting on motors and parts from America,” Marcus explained.
The Australia One enters the ECS arena after an off-season campaign in America where he contested 35 shows at the major tracks on the World of Outlaws national championship trail including Ohio’s Eldora Speedway and Iowa’s world famous Knoxville Raceway.
The Dumesnys are back in force Saturday night as brother Matt also has entered.
But the driver they all have to beat is Jamie Veal who boasts and almost unbeatable main event winning record since the opening of the Eastern Creek Speedway last March.
Statistics reveal five out of six wins which clearly tells the story of his dominance while another interstate driver, Brock Hallett, has completed the Sydney shut-out.
Queenslanders Aaron Kelly and Allan Woods will also be chasing a breakthrough feature race victory for the sunshine state.
It sets the scene nicely as the Sydney stars attempt to end the out-of-town dominance.
Jessie Attard has been a very impressive pacesetter, while Lachlan Caunt, Jordyn Brazier, James Thompson, Warren Ferguson, Sam Walsh and Mick Saller also cannot be discounted. Walsh, in particular, was very fast last time out and clocked the quickest lap time of the night in the shoot-out events.
Wingless Sprints have a big entry list with 42 cars on the nomination list.
It’s a very impressive line-up and runners such as Jason Bates, Bailey Goodwin, Graham Flood, Andrew Seery, Brian Briton, Andrew Sayre and Ben Matchett are amongst a superb cast of the fast.
The Compact Speedcar action will focus on the performance of youngster Rhys Birkett who recently stole the show at Fairbairn Park, ACT and came away with an impressive win, while another rookie in the NSW Compact ranks Cheyne Williams took third.
Rhys, a product of the Karting ranks and in the very early stages of his career, already has shown out as a prospect for the future.
Midget driver Alan Day, who for a long time has been devoted to Midget and Compacts, has entered for the Compact events this weekend, while race organisers have received 20 nominations.
Other drivers in the entries are nationally rated star Mark Heaton, Greg Farrugia, Gordon Callaghan, Warren Lawler, Trevor Perry and Kyle Sharpe.
The NSW Compact Association are to be congratulated on securing sponsorship for each of their races via the following backers: Partech Engineering (heat one and feature race), CUBE Plumbing (heat two) and LA Racing Lubricants (heat three).
ROSS NICASTRI IN AMCAs
Former Australian Late Model Champion and two times NSW titleholder will make his debut in the AMCA class this weekend.
“Ben (Nicastri) is going to keep running the Late Model and I am keen for him to do that, and then I just thought that I would not mind doing something else to still keep my interest in racing, so I bought myself an AMCA. It’s an ex-Lindsay Cornwell car which was also the ex-Matt Hardy Australian One car of some years ago, it’s a 2014 model AMCA.” Ross said.
At this stage of his career Ross says he just wants to “have fun” but the class, to some extent, remains an unknown quantity.
“I have not even turned a lap in the AMCA. All I have done is had a few runs in a paddock – and that’s it. But I am still enjoying what I do and I also want to have fun.”
Queensland number one Tony Blanch has entered, along with Matt Hardy (QLD 15), Russ Hardy (QLD 18) and Andy Wilcox in the SA 25 entry.
Peter Markulin, Mark Eveleigh, Scott McPherson, Jarrard Eveleigh, Darrel Kime, have been regulars in NSW and entered for Saturday night.
