GARRY AND KAY RUSH SUCCESSFUL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FUNDRAISER
By Dennis Newlyn
The Garry and Kay Rush fund raiser for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead provided a wonderful result with $15,630 raised for the very worthy cause.
From early morning, Saturday, October 16, people arrived at Garry’s race shop in Mulgrave western Sydney to purchase memorabilia from his wonderful career which spanned from 1964 through to the early 2000s. Trophies, sashes, shirts, caps, jackets, sprintcar panels, books and magazines all were available for purchase.
Race fans warmed to the occasion and the attendance was good throughout the day.
It also represented a great opportunity to pick up some great memorabilia relating to one of the all-time most successful careers in Australian speedway history, highlighted with a record setting ten Australian Sprintcar Championships.
Also special mention to Speedway Star merchandiser Wayne Meyer who assisted with the event.
