ACES ARE 2026 PREMIERS
BELLE Vue have clinched their third ROWE Motor Oil Premiership title in five years after a convincing Grand Final display against Sheffield at a packed National Speedway Stadium.
The Aces were able to celebrate in front of their own Manchester fans as they won the second leg 53-37 for a 20-point aggregate success, officially sealing the crown with three races remaining.
There was a brief scare for the title favourites when they conceded a 5-1 in Heat 2 which erased their four-point lead from the first leg at Owlerton – but the response was swift as the Aces opened up a 12-point margin across the next four races.
The Belle Vue top five were in dominant mood with Jason Doyle (11), Norick Blordorn (10+2) and Zach Cook (10+1) all in double figures along with unbeaten guest Nicolai Klindt (11+1), whilst skipper Brady Kurtz was unbeaten after running a rare last place in Heat 1.
The visitors were restricted to just three race wins, skipper Josh Pickering topping their scorechart with 8+1 whilst Rising Star reserve Luke Killeen impressed with 7+2.
Belle Vue manager Mark Lemon said: “It’s been a magic night. The fans have waited 54 years for this moment, to win a league championship at home, and I’m delighted that they didn’t go home disappointed!
“The support we’ve had has been amazing from the fans and the sponsors, and it’s just been a really good year.
“Some years you win it and it’s by a little bit of luck and chance, but I think this year there’s no excuses for anybody – we were the best team.
“It takes a long time to get here, and the hard work goes well and truly in prior to the season, but credit to our team. It’s just been a fantastic season.”

SHEFFIELD manager Simon Stead was gracious in defeat as his side had to settle for runners-up spot in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.
The Tigers made an encouraging start to the second leg of the Grand Final to return to level pegging on aggregate after two races, but three 5-1s to Belle Vue in the next four heats took the tie away from the visitors.
Stead was still able to reflect on a season which saw the Tigers qualify for the play-offs once again and reach the title decider despite the huge loss of No.1 Jack Holder to injury in mid-June.
He said: “I think a silver medal is probably as good as we could’ve hoped for with the season that Belle Vue have had; they’ve been absolutely unbelievable all season, and credit to them.
“They’ve been at the top all year and you can’t take anything away from them.
“After a positive opening couple of races, it quickly got away from us and of course we’re disappointed.
“We can’t really have too many complaints; it’s a shame we couldn’t run Belle Vue closer than we did but as I said, we’ve been beaten by the better team and that’s just how it is.”

LEICESTER host unbeaten champions Edinburgh in the final match of the WSRA National Development League season at the Hydroscand Arena tonight (Saturday, 7pm – GMT).
The Monarchs Academy have won nine out of nine this season and are looking to complete a 100 per cent record in the third tier.
Meanwhile the Lion Cubs are currently second in the table and will hold that position unless they are defeated by 22 or more points tonight.
They bring in Dan Gilkes to guest for the injured Freddy Hodder whilst Emerson Betty has been recruited to their team at reserve as Tom Spencer remains on the sidelines.
Leicester manager Jen Crossland said: “Edinburgh have been the strongest team in the NDL this season and they deserve the league title, but we would like to end their unbeaten record if we possibly can.
“However the most important thing is that the riders keep on learning and enjoying it, and they’re looking forward to racing for the last time this season.”

GREAT Britain’s George Climo competes in the FIM Europe 125cc Track Racing Cup at Pardubice in the Czech Republic later today (Saturday).
The event was abandoned at Workington on August 9 due to rain and was unable to be restaged in the UK, and therefore the Czech Federation offered to host the rescheduled event.
Climo, in his first year of racing speedway, has had an excellent season in the UK finishing second in the 125cc class of the British Youth Championship and achieving a 10.77 average for Workington in the Northern Junior League.
