TEAM PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN IPSWICH AND SPARTA WROCLAW
IPSWICH have unveiled a strategic partnership with WTS Sparta Wroclaw which sees the Polish Ekstraliga giants purchase a minority stake on the Foxhall side.
The teams will share information and support each other in a wide range of areas including youth development and training, promotion and marketing, sponsorship and fan-focussed initiatives.
Witches chairman Richard Coleman said: “We had a chat with three clubs, but from my perspective, Wroclaw was head and shoulders above the others and has a lot to offer.
“It’s a really well-run club – and not only financially. Every single league match is sold out and they really do care about the fan experience and the riders.
“The Rusko family also deeply cares about the sport of speedway. I think they share my vision and values as to where the sport needs to go in the next five years.
“They really understand that the sport of speedway outside of Poland is a concern, so their motives to join forces with us and improve this picture were the right ones.”

KING’S Lynn have announced the signing of Jordan Jenkins who is set to join the club ahead of their trip to Belle Vue on Monday.
The Stars have acted after a second home defeat in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership this week when they went down against Leicester leaving them with ground to make up in the play-off race.
Jenkins, who has been in superb form in the Championship following his recent move to Berwick, will replace Paco Castagna at the Adrian Flux Arena.
He said: “I’m delighted to be signing for King’s Lynn. I’ve hit a good bit of form recently, and I’m really enjoying my riding at the moment, so I’m looking forward to being back in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.
“I’d like to thank the management for giving me this opportunity, and I’m excited to get started and do my best for the club.”

OXFORD turned the tables on Redcar with their own comeback for a 46-44 victory in the Cab Direct Championship – although the Bears gained consolation with the aggregate point.
Just as in the reverse fixture last Friday the home side on the night found themselves eight points down, but the Cheetahs levelled by Heat 11 with a mechanical failure for Bears guest Danny King whilst he was leading that race proving crucial.
The home side then edged ahead with a 4-2 in Heat 12 before Sam Masters completed a paid maximum (14+1) with wins in Heats 13 and 15 to get the hosts over the line.
Anders Rowe was also in double figures with 11, whilst reserve Jake Mulford led the Redcar scoring, as he notched 11.
With the aggregate scores level Masters then won the subsequent Super Heat, but second and third places for King and Jake Allen over Rowe enabled the Bears to take the aggregate point.
Masters said: “It was a good, battling performance by the boys. It’s tough when you’re using rider replacement and it’s hot like today, but we dug deep and took the victory.
“It wasn’t easy, and we’d have liked the aggregate point as well, because we were good enough to take it, but towards the end, gates 2 and 4 were hard. But winning is the main thing and we got the job done.”

POOLE were held to a 47-43 home win by Berwick leaving their MAXiCab KO Cup semi-final fascinatingly poised at the halfway stage.
The Pirates were never allowed to race away with the tie, although they did look set for a useful advantage when Lewis Kerr and Kyle Newman combined for a 5-1 in Heat 12 to put them ten points up.
However, after a Bandits 4-2 in Heat 13 the home side saw Cooper Rushen disqualified from Heat 14 with Berwick guest Leon Flint and Nick Morris then racing to a key 5-1 in Heat 15 to further reduce the arrears.
Reserve Will Cairns top scored for the Pirates with 11 and Kerr added 10 despite a Heat 5 fall, whilst Flint scored 10+1 and Morris 9+1 in a hard-working Bandits display ahead of Saturday’s second leg.
Kerr said: “They are a very good side this year and we can’t take anything away from them. But a lot of things didn’t go our way tonight.
“For me, hitting that hole down the bottom there that knocked my chain off when it was a potential maximum win. It’s always going to be tough when you get those.
“The conditions were tough and the track staff did a great job getting the track to where it was. But, in terms of going forward, it is just the mindset we always have as a unit and that will be to go there, win and reach the Final.”
Bandits boss Stewart Dickson said: “We’ve achieved nothing yet, we’re still behind in the tie.
“Poole have a good record around Shielfield Park and are sure to come hard at us. We will have to be on the top of our game with no room for error.”

IPSWICH manager Paul Hurry is targeting a big response when the Witches host Belle Vue in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership at Foxhall tonight (Thursday).
The Aces were emphatic 62-28 winners when the sides met in Manchester on Monday, although the picture is somewhat different heading into the next clash in Suffolk.
The aggregate point position sees the visitors ahead by 12 points as this is the reverse Round 1 fixture from a previous meeting at the National Speedway Stadium in April.
And the Aces will be without their top scorer from Monday, Zach Cook, who is required in Poland, whilst Jason Doyle is not ready to resume against his former club following his crash last weekend.
Cook’s absence is covered by the rider replacement facility whilst the visitors bring in Chris Harris to guest for Doyle.
Hurry said: “We need to sit down and work things out and have a chat with the boys. We’ve had a heavy defeat. We need to regroup, and get on with Thursday. But let it be a warning.
“I will be talking to a few of them. I don’t like to make a song and dance. They have tried their best, and you can see it in their riding. But there is just something missing. We just have to keep being confident and ride to the best of our ability at home and sort things out on the road.
“There are no excuses. They have had five home meetings now, so they should be up to full speed with the setup at Foxhall.”
Aces boss Mark Lemon said: “The team has really been growing, and on Monday night they did an exceptional job.
“You can see the confidence has been rubbing off on each other, and now we go down to Ipswich on Thursday and let’s see how we fare there.
“Obviously we don’t want to come back from Ipswich with our tails between our legs, we certainly want to put on a performance there and come away with something.”
IPSWICH: Tom Brennan, Danny King, Richard Lawson, Scott Nicholls, Tobiasz Musielak, Philip Hellstrom-Bangs, Jason Edwards.
BELLE VUE: Brady Kurtz, Zach Cook R/R, Peter Kildemand, Norick Blodorn, Chris Harris, Tate Zischke, Will Cairns.

SHEFFIELD will race at home for the first time in exactly a month when they welcome Leicester to S6 tonight (Thursday).
The Tigers produced a couple of strong late finishes to earn wins against Belle Vue and Ipswich in their previous two Owlerton outings and also completed a terrific last gasp turnaround at Northampton last week to pick up their first away win of the year in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.
But they now go into life without No.1 Jack Holder for the immediate future as the Australian is ruled out with a broken arm sustained at the Wroclaw GP last weekend.
Tigers will operate rider replacement, as will the Lions who are without Dan Thompson who is required in Poland tonight.
The visitors have a good recent record against their opponents and they also enjoyed their first league away win when they were successful at King’s Lynn on Monday.
Sheffield boss Simon Stead said: “The home defeat we had in the Knockout Cup against Leicester earlier in the season is the biggest down point in an otherwise reasonable start. We’ve got an opportunity to put that right on Thursday though.
“It will be tough, but I think, the team we are now, full of confidence is probably a little bit different to the one they encountered earlier in the year so I’m expecting a great meeting.
“One thing is for certain, if we want to pick up another win then we’ll need to cover for Jack well.”
Leicester manager Stewart Dickson said: “It’s a blow to be without Dan, because he’s riding really well at the moment and he put in a great performance at King’s Lynn.
“We need to focus on our own job, and if we perform as a team as we have done there before, we can make it work with rider replacement.
“We’re eight points up so in the worst case scenario we need to look to get the aggregate point – that would make it a good week, but if we could get the win it would be an excellent week!”
SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder R/R, Anders Rowe, Chris Holder, Leon Flint, Josh Pickering, Jye Etheridge, Luke Killeen.
LEICESTER: Ryan Douglas, Drew Kemp, Nick Morris, Dan Thompson R/R, Sam Masters, Kyle Howarth, Joe Thompson.
