THOMPSON WINS A BONANZA
FORMER Glasgow star Dan Thompson made a triumphant return to Ashfield with victory in Saturday’s Ben Fund Bonanza.
Thompson was a big part of the Tigers’ 2025 title challenge but he has switched to Scottish rivals Edinburgh for the 2026 Cab Direct Championship campaign.
He scored 11 points from his qualifying races and then came through a thrilling semi-final, going from third to first against Kevin Juhl Pedersen and Danny King.
Then in the Final Thompson again used the outside to good effect to hit the front off turn four, with Juhl Pedersen and Peter Kildemand completing the rostrum finishers.
Thompson said: “It’s the perfect start for me. I’m now at No.1 at Edinburgh so it was important for me to show I can beat other No.1s.
“I had a good race with Chris Harris and managed to beat him. But I know he wasn’t on his usual Glasgow engine so he’ll probably get me next time!
“But all-in-all, it’s nice to begin the season with a strong performance and win.”

NEW Glasgow signing Kevin Juhl Pedersen enjoyed an instant impact on his home track with second place in the Ben Fund Bonanza.
The Dane is one of the Tigers’ exciting new recruits for 2026 and he delivered a terrific display with 10 points in the qualifiers followed by a thrilling overtake on Danny King to reach the Final.
He led that race before being overhauled by eventual winner Dan Thompson – but he declared himself more than satisfied to end as runner-up.
Juhl Pedersen said: “I’m obviously delighted to start with Glasgow with this result. It was a tough meeting but I made good starts and did some passing.
“I’m very happy to get off to a strong beginning for the Glasgow fans.”
