PASCOE CLAIMS SECOND SSA SUPER SEDAN TASMANIAN TITLE!
Brad Pascoe has claimed his second SSA Super Sedan Tasmanian Title, delivering a strong performance at Latrobe Speedway – Gulf Western & Independent Oils Raceway thus past weekend.
Pascoe bided his time through the early stages of the 40-lap feature before striking in the second half of the race to secure victory in a field stacked with talent, including six former champions.
Harry Doyle started from pole position alongside Todd Atkins, who was campaigning the Lee Aylett machine for the weekend. Doyle made a brilliant start, jumping to the lead as Atkins quickly closed on the outside, only for the opening attempt to be called back.
At the second start, Doyle again launched strongly, with Pascoe moving inside Atkins to claim second while defending champion Callum Harper worked hard in fourth. The early running was halted when the yellows were displayed after an incident in turn one.
On the restart, Doyle again led the field away, but Atkins came from nowhere, charging around the outside to take the lead. Pascoe followed him through, demoting Doyle to third. Atkins opened a small gap as Pascoe settled into second, while Doyle came under constant pressure from Harper.
Harper eventually found a way past Doyle on lap fourteen, before Doyle fought back through lapped traffic to reclaim the position a few laps later. By halfway, Pascoe had reeled in Atkins, the leading duo carving through heavy traffic nose-to-tail.
With fourteen laps remaining, Pascoe pulled alongside Atkins down the front straight and challenged through turns one and two, but the move didn’t stick. Undeterred, Pascoe maintained the pressure, switching to the outside and sweeping past Atkins down the straight with twelve laps to go.
Emerging from traffic with ten laps remaining, Pascoe gained a small buffer at the front. Behind him, Doyle closed rapidly on Atkins and began searching for a way through, with Harper once again joining the battle.
With five laps to go, Doyle briefly got around Atkins on the outside, only for a lapped car to halt the move. Doyle regrouped and made another successful pass, but Atkins struck back immediately, with Harper following through in the closing laps.
Out front, Pascoe was untroubled, going on to claim the win ahead of Atkins and Harper to secure his second Tasmanian Super Sedan Title, adding to his previous triumph at Carrick in the 2023/24 season.
