Following podium finishes on all three nights, there was no doubt Dayne Kingshott and the Krikke Motorsport team were one of the stand outs of the second annual High Limit International at the Perth Motorplex.
With a pair of third place finishes on nights one and two, the WA # 2 Mobil / Bunbury Toyota supported Maxim driver went to another level during the High Limit International finale and nearly came away with the $110,000 winner’s prize but had to settle for second behind American star Kyle Larson.
“I gave it my all out there racing against some of the world’s best Sprintcar racers and to finish second hurts a little, as I was so close to pulling off the win, but I’m just so proud of the whole Krikke Motorsport team for all of their efforts in giving me a great hot rod to go out there and do my thing,” commented Dayne Kingshott.,
He had fought hard over the closing stages to try and regain his early lead, which wasn’t helped when he sustained considerable damage to the right side of his race car following contact with a slowing lapped car causing a late race caution. However, Dayne came very close to clinching the top prize away from Larson.
“The High Limit International is quickly turning into one of the world’s premier 410 Sprintcar events and to have our local team running up there with some of America’s best by coming away with podium finishes on each of the three nights is something the Krikke Motorsport team and I are extremely proud of.”
Krikke Motorsport team manager Ryan Krikke was as equally pumped as Kingshott about the team’s performance throughout the High Limit International.
“Heading into the High Limit International I had the belief that our team could go out there and run up front, especially after what we achieved in last season’s event and the pace we have had so far this season,” he said.
“Matty (Cochrane – crew chief) made some good tweaks to the car over the three nights, and I think we had consistently the fastest car throughout the event and the best car in the feature race, but Larson is obviously something special and you need more than a good car and a good driver to beat him.
“To be honest, the Krikke Motorsport team has always gone out there and raced to win, I have never been a fan of second place, but on this occasion, I’m kind of OK with it.”
