McFADDEN FOR ADELAIDE’S NAPA SPEEDWAY
NAPA is pleased to confirm Australian Sprintcar Champion James McFadden will represent the auto parts brand at the NAPA Speedway in the second-running of the ‘Sprintcars in the City’ event in Adelaide next week.
McFadden will pit himself against 42 of the best Sprintcar drivers from Australia and around the world at the unique temporary venue, held within the Adelaide Parklands precinct as part of the bp Adelaide Grand Final – the final round of the Repco Supercars Championship.
Now driving for Team Brady Racing, 36-year-old’s NAPA Sprintcar will compete in a striking white look adorning the #1 plate courtesy of his Australian title victory at Murray Bridge earlier this year.
McFadden and West Australian-based Team Brady Racing have enjoyed an amazing run of results in the past 12 months, including winning the Australian title and the famous Grand Annual Classic.
His double success in two of Australia’s biggest races broke a 35 year drought – not since Sprintcar legend Garry Rush in 1990 had a driver claimed the two big crowns in the same year.
He also tasted success in the USA this year, despite only running a limited program. Driving for Tarlton Motorsports, McFadden secured a win at Calistoga Speedway, and also recorded strong top five finishes at Roseburg and Burlington.
McFadden and his Sprintcar rivals will be the stars on makeshift 342 metre clay bullring, but it’s the exciting upgrades to the NAPA Speedway that have drivers and fans salivating.
The inaugural NAPA Speedway was deemed a major success, so much so that it was awarded the ‘Event of the Year’ at the Australian Speedway Hall of Fame and Awards night.
NAPA and the South Australian Motorsport Board have worked hard to take the fan experience to a new level, including the installation of east-facing grandstands, plus changes to the paddock area for better accessibility.
Also, fans can expect to see more racing on the NAPA Speedway. The NAPA Sprintcar Invitational will see three nights of non-stop action from Wednesday to Friday – an extra night of competition compared to 2024.
The prize pool for this year’s event has also increased to $140,000 across the three nights.
And there will be plenty of track action too, with Speedcars supporting the Sprintcars on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, while the Junior Sedans and Junior Formula 500 will keep the sounds bellowing through the Adelaide streets on Saturday and Sunday.
The NAPA Speedway is just one of a number of huge attractions at the bp Adelaide Grand Final that all kicks off with the opening night of NAPA Speedway on Wednesday, November 26 before action on the street circuit runs for four days where a new Repco Supercars champion will be crowd in the inaugural ‘Grand Final’.
Also, Australian international rock stars AC/DC will play for the huge crowd on Sunday night.
