Williamsburg, Ohio (August 1, 2025)………Bryce Massingill led all 25 laps to score his third points-paying United States Auto Club (USAC) Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midget feature win of the season on Friday night at Williamsburg, Ohio’s Moler Raceway Park.
Massingill (Troy, Ohio) finished 1.6 seconds ahead of the field to earn his 18th career feature victory with the series while also extending his point lead to 13 markers over Tyler Nelson.
Following Massingill en route to his second straight series win was Luke Hall (Ludlow Falls, Ohio) who took second with Ian Creager (Covington, Ohio) third, Tyler Nelson (Olathe, Kansas) fourth and Matt Lux (Manilla, Indiana) fifth.
Michael Magic (Winder, Georgia) turned around a challenging night after his regular ride in the family-owned #5m suffered a blown head gasket. Fellow racer Steve Gresham put Magic in his No. 27G midget for the feature. Starting last, Magic advanced nine positions from 17th to eighth to receive the Performance Powder Coating Hard Charger award.
Jon Watson (Columbus, Ohio) was the recipient of the Saldana Racing Products gift certificate as the first car out of the feature after experiencing brake issues.
Jimmie Guidry (Rockport, Indiana) captured Wilwood Disc Brakes High Pill gift certificate after drawing the number 9 in the redraw. Guidry went on to finish 11th in the feature.
Heat races presented by Performance Electronics, Stiefel’s Home & Auto and Hoosier Auto Race Fans were won by Tyler Nelson, Cole Morgan (Brookville, Ohio) and Bryce Massingill.
Matt Lux was the VMS Motorsports Fast Qualifier. His lap of 13.592 seconds was the quickest time of the night.
Jim Jones (Ventura, California) had the moment of the night after leading the first seven laps of his heat race. His second place finish put him into the redraw where he pulled the number one pill to start on the pole of the feature. Jones received the Rosewood Machine and Tool Company Precision Move of the race for his efforts.
What a night it was for Cole Morgan who qualified fourth in his group, thereby placing him on the pole of his heat race, which he went on to win. Drawing the number four pill for the feature, Morgan jumped into the third position while running an exciting line up against the wall as he chased the leaders. Unfortunately, Morgan spun on lap 13 but quickly worked his way back up to seventh by lap 18 only to have an engine issue that dropped him back to 12th. He was able to carve his way back to 10th at the checkered, picking up the LYNK Chassis 10th place cash award. For his efforts and challenges, he was also recognized with the Lynn Cook “A Racer’s Friend” Hard Luck award.
