FIM SPEEDWAY: BEWLEY, ONE GP AT A TIME
Great Britain star Dan Bewley pledged to take it “one meeting at a time” in his quest for the FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship podium.
The Cumbrian has reached the rostrum on three of his last four Speedway GP appearances, leaving him fourth in the World Championship on 97 points with three rounds to race.
While Bewley is 34 points behind leader Bartosz Zmarzlik, he is only two adrift of Swedish star Fredrik Lindgren in third and firmly in the hunt for at least a bronze medal.
The Belle Vue hero insists he will focus on delivering big results in each round rather than thinking about the race for the rostrum.
He said: “It’s one meeting at a time for me. If I can keep making finals, we will see what happens. I have been a lot more consistent this year, so I am happy with that. I feel good on the bike. It’s just about making sure I have something I can fight with. I feel like my starts are good. I just need that little bit of help, but it’s going better, and we are moving in the right direction.”
Next up for Bewley is the OlyBet FIM Speedway GP of Latvia – Riga on August 2 and he’s keen to build on his third place at Bikernieki in 2024.
He said: “Riga is a pretty different place to go. It’s quite a cool track alongside the main tarmac racetrack there. I went pretty well there last year. I think it was one of my better GPs.
“In the heats, I was pretty good and scored some good points. I made some good starts, and it was a pretty fun track.”
