ARGENTINA MAKES HISTORIC FIM SPEEDWAY OF NATIONS DEBUT IN TORUN
Argentina becomes the first South American country to take part in an FIM Speedway world team championship when they compete at the 2025 FIM Speedway of Nations in Torun, Poland.
In the 65-year history of FIM Speedway world team events, South America has never been represented. But Argentina will make the trip to Torun’s iconic Marian Rose Motoarena for the FIM SON Semi-Finals, which take place on September 30 and October 1, with seven countries competing on each night.
The top three teams in both Semi-Finals advance to the FIM SON Final on October 4, joining hosts Poland, who are seeking their first FIM SON gold medals as they bid to dethrone reigning champions Great Britain.
Argentina replaces the United States of America after the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) withdrew from the competition.
FIM Track Racing Commission (CCP) director Armando Castagna is delighted to welcome Argentina into the 15-team FIM SON for what’s set to be an historic week for speedway in South America.
He said: “I have visited and raced in Argentina many times, and it’s a very special moment for the sport as we see their riders make the trip to Europe and represent the country in the FIM Speedway of Nations.
“Many fans in Argentina follow not just their local events, but also Speedway GP and the European leagues. Having their own team to support in this year’s FIM SON can only grow the sport in Argentina and South America, and I can only imagine the excitement of the speedway community there about this news.
“I wish all of the countries competing in this year’s FIM SON the best of luck and we look forward to a fantastic week in Torun
Alongside hosts Poland, reigning champions Great Britain and newcomers Argentina, the FIM SON line-up also features 2022 winners Australia, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden and Ukraine.
The FIM SON Semi-Final draw will be announced soon.
