BRITISH PAIR HARRIS & ELLIS IN MANCHESTER GP LINE-UP
Former British champions Chris Harris and Adam Ellis will complete the ATPI FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Manchester line-up after being named as track reserves for the double-header event on June 13 and 14.
The duo join host club Belle Vue’s Speedway GP hero Dan Bewley and world number two Robert Lambert, as well as local wild card Charles Wright, at the National Speedway Stadium for rounds four and five of the 2025 Speedway GP World Championship.
Harris, who wears the number 17 race jacket, is no stranger to Speedway GP, having made 103 appearances in the championship, as well as famously winning the 2007 FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff with his legendary last-to-first charge to win the final ahead of SGP icons Greg Hancock, Jason Crump and Leigh Adams.
The Cornishman finished fourth in the epic British Championship grand final on May 12, hitting the front going into a frantic final lap, which saw Lambert take the win, with Wright second to secure the Manchester wild card.
But the King’s Lynn and Glasgow star could still take to the track at the National Speedway Stadium if any of the 16 starters are forced out of a race due to injury, illness, a starting offence or other reasons.
Former 2021 British champion Ellis will be second track reserve, wearing the number 18 race jacket, after finishing fifth in the British Championship Final.
Ellis, who rides for Ipswich in Britain’s Rowe Motor Oil Premiership, served as wild card for the 2022 FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff. His night was curtailed by injury after one ride. Now the FIM Speedway World Cup silver medallist will hope to play a role in the Manchester event.
