KURTZ CHASING HOME TRACK VICTORY
BELLE Vue captain Brady Kurtz says his side would love to clinch the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership title at home.
Kurtz leads the table-topping Aces into the Grand Final against fierce rivals Sheffield, with the tie getting underway at Owlerton this Thursday.
The return is in Manchester next Monday (October 12) with Belle Vue’s previous two title wins having seen them secure the prize with the second leg away from home – including in 2022 at the expense of Sheffield.
Kurtz said: “Obviously it was cool the first year that we did it, and in ’24 (at Leicester), but we’ve never done it at home.
“That would be a much better deal and I’m super excited to bring the Grand Final here, and I’d love it to be a good one.
“It would be something pretty special but we’re pretty far away from it at the moment, and we need to focus.”

POOLE youngster Cooper Rushen is optimistic his side will be able to secure the Cab Direct Championship title in this Wednesday’s Grand Final decider against Scunthorpe.
The Scorpions built up an eight-point lead in a well-contested first leg last Friday, but the Pirates have a superb record on their own circuit.
Rushen scored 7+2 at the Eddie Wright Raceway including a key win in Heat 10 over home skipper Josh Pickering, and he admits they had to dig in to remain in touch.
He said: “The spirit is good in the camp. I think we were in danger of being about 16 down at one point, so to hold it to just eight down, we’re all quite buzzing.
“But one thing’s for sure, you can never count Scunny out. I think they can make it really hard for us, so we’ll just take it as it comes.
“Wednesday’s a fresh day, and we’ve been strong at home this season, so I hope we can continue that.”

KING’S Lynn favourite Jan Kvech is celebrating a sensational victory on home soil in the prestigious Czech Golden Helmet.
Kvech came out on top from the 36-rider field in the traditional late-season event at Pardubice on Sunday, becoming the first Czech rider to win the event since 2017.
He was involved in a first-bend crash with Kim Nilsson in the Final but all six riders were allowed back in the re-run with the race taking place over six laps.
Belle Vue’s Jason Doyle, a three-time former winner of the event, suffered mechanical failure away from the start line, but Kvech still found himself back in fifth place on the opening lap.
However, he worked his way through the field which included Northampton’s Nicolai Klindt, and Kvech finally hit the front with an inside pass on Andzejs Lebedevs going into the last lap.
Kvech will be back for King’s Lynn in their final ROWE Motor Oil Premiership fixture of the season at Northampton on Tuesday.

LEICESTER Lion Cubs moved back to second place in the WSRA NDL with a 50-40 win at Buxton despite being without three of their regulars.
The visitors completed a tight meeting with two 5-1s to end with a ten-point advantage in a result which will leave the Bulls with the wooden spoon, albeit after what has been a positive comeback campaign as they build towards 2027.
Skipper Ben Morley (16+1) and Ryan Ingram (16) dominated the meeting for the visitors, whilst Alfie Bowtell and Jack Roberts scored nine for the Bulls.
Buxton manager Laurence Rogers said: “We battled hard throughout the meeting and unfortunately came up short in the end.
“Alfie rode with a hand/wrist injury and he rode well along with Jack, and the rest all chipped in but we just couldn’t get our noses in front on the day.
“On the plus side we’ve done ourselves no harm. We’ve got Buxton back racing here at Hi-Edge Raceway and we are back next season whatever format the league takes, and roll on 2027.”
