BRITAIN’S ROBERT LAMBERT IS 2026 WORLD SPEEDWAY CHAMPION

Great Britain racer Robert Lambert stormed to DEWALT FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Torun victory to win an epic three-way fight for the Speedway GP World Championship on Saturday.

The Norfolk racer became Britain’s ninth FIM Speedway world champion – the first since three-time champion Tai Woffinden last topped the podium in 2018 – after winning the final ahead of Aussie ace Brady Kurtz in second and Polish icon Bartosz Zmarzlik in third.

Third place on the night was enough to hand Zmarzlik the silver medal as his record-breaking run of four straight Speedway GP World Championships came to an end, with Lambert denying him the Holy Grail of a seventh gold medal, which would have surpassed the all-time record of six he shares with New Zealand legend Ivan Mauger and Swedish great Tony Rickardsson.

Australian national team captain Kurtz picked up the bronze medal in third– adding to the silver he won in his debut season in 2025.
