FIM SPEEDWAY: INJURY BLOW FOR LIDSEY

NORTHAMPTON Foxes’ Australian star Jaimon Lidsey has suffered a fractured right arm in an horrific crash in Poland on Friday, September 18.

Lidsey was involved in a spectacular three-rider pile-up on the first bend of Heat 14 in the crucial Gorzow v Czestochowa play-off fixture.

He was able to walk away and actually took to the track for the re-run, but this was purely so he could touch the tapes to enable his team to bring in a reserve replacement, as in Poland a rider who non-starts due to a fall cannot be replaced.

Confirmation of his injury followed on Saturday morning, and it therefore brings his season to an end prior to the rearrangement of the Foxes v King’s Lynn fixture to be announced.

Lidsey started the season as the Foxes’ number one and although he dropped down from that position in the summer, he has been a big part of the team in the opening Shaleway campaign, offering assistance to the promotion off the track as well as his contribution on it, and he has captained the side in recent fixtures. We wish him well for a speedy recovery.
