FIM SPEEDWAY: FOUR-SOME NIGHT FOR JANOWSKI AS HE WINS POLISH TITLE IN OSTROW

Polish racer Maciej Janowski is now a four-time Polish champion after sealing the crown on a dramatic night in Ostrow on Saturday, August 15.
Janowski finished second in round three of the series on 14 points, with six-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik winning the meeting on 15 as both qualified for the final automatically after 20 heats.
But with Magic starting the night two points ahead of the Lublin man, Wroclaw hero Janowski did enough to add to his 2015, 2020 and 2024 crowns and pip Zmarzlik to the national championship by one point, finishing on 36, while the three-time champion managed 35.
Zmarzlik endured an inauspicious start to his evening after being disqualified from his opening ride for felling Speedway GP rival Patryk Dudek. The European champion, who started the night just two points off first place on 22, withdrew from the meeting and was taken to hospital for checks.
Pre-meeting leader Kacper Woryna had to make do with the bronze medal on 33. He started the night with a four-point lead on 26, but he fell short of the last-chance qualifier on seven to miss out on the chance to become Polish champion – 60 years after his grandfather Antoni Woryna won the 1966 title in Rybnik.
It was a night for the young guns as former SGP2 star Jakub Krawczyk finished third in the final with 11 points after starting the night as a track reserve, while SGP2 medal contender Maksymilian Pawelczak ended the night on 12 in fourth place.
They powered their way through the last-chance qualifier, seeing off Speedway GP rider Dominik Kubera and double SGP2 champion Mateusz Cierniak, who both finished the night on 10.
