HOWARTH TAKES TIME OUT
LEICESTER and Glasgow racer Kyle Howarth has informed his clubs that he will be taking time out of the sport with immediate effect.
The 2015 British Under-21 Champion has endured a tough season so far punctuated by niggling injuries and illness.
The Lions have already stated they hope to have a new signing in place by early next month, although their first priority is arranging cover for Thursday’s KO Cup Final against Ipswich.
Co-promoter Stewart Dickson said: “Kyle has spoken to me and has been honest and upfront that he’s not really enjoying his speedway at present, and he is taking a break from the sport.
“He is a rider who always wears his heart on his sleeve and we actually spoke a couple of weeks back, because I had an indication that he hasn’t been enjoying his racing this season as much as in previous years.
“We accept his reasons and he leaves with our best wishes to him, his Dad and his mechanic Sharpy who have been a pleasure to work with these last few years.”
Meanwhile Glasgow’s next fixture is their local derby clash at home to Edinburgh on Friday.

POOLE look to keep up their unbeaten record in the Cab Direct Championship when they host Berwick at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).
A win for the Pirates would take them into the top three in the standings, and still with matches in hand over their rivals.
They face a Berwick team who begin the most crucial phase of their season with four matches in the next five days as they look to stage a run towards the top four, having already knocked Poole out of the MAXiCab KO Cup.
Both sides are missing their No.1 riders due to Danish League commitments with Sam Masters and Drew Kemp replacing Richard Lawson and Peter Kildemand respectively, whilst the Pirates also have Edward Kennett guesting at reserve for the injured Fraser Bowes.
Poole co-promoter Dan Ford said: “Berwick showed us last time that they have no fears of coming here.
“Stewart Dickson, their team manager, told his riders to believe in themselves and they certainly did, but equally our boys all know that they can up their game this time around and I believe they will.
“I think with a solid school holiday crowd backing us on Wednesday we can maintain our league momentum, but we know we are going to be made to work very hard for a result.”
