(SPEEDWAY 1)
ROWE LEADS BRITISH FINAL QUALIFIERS
ANDERS Rowe headed the qualifiers for the British Final as the Sheffield and Oxford rider won Sunday’s semi-final at Leicester.
Rowe scored 13 points which turned out to be enough for first place on the day when Jason Edwards, who was unbeaten from his first four rides, finished last in Heat 20.
Edwards still took second overall and was joined on the podium at the Hydroscand Arena by former British Champion Craig Cook who also scored 12.
Lions regular Drew Kemp safely reached the Belle Vue showpiece with 11 points, and the list of qualifiers was completed by two teenagers who will both now make their British Final debuts.
Jody Scott put in a strong performance throughout the day to score 10, whilst Will Cairns made a dramatic recovery from a last place in his first ride to take the final qualifying place ahead of Jake Mulford in a run-off after both scored nine.
The British Final will take place on Saturday August 15 at the National Speedway Stadium with the full line-up to be confirmed soon.

ROWE Motor Oil Premiership leaders Belle Vue are on the road this week starting with a trip to King’s Lynn tonight (Monday).
The Aces are four points clear at the top and will also travel to their nearest challengers Leicester on Thursday.
They are set to return to full strength in Norfolk with Jason Doyle and Peter Kildemand both returning after missing their last fixture.
Meanwhile King’s Lynn start the meeting holding the last play-off place but with a need to find consistency at home, after being held by Northampton the last time they raced at the Adrian Flux Arena.
Stars manager Rob Lyon said: “There’s a long way to go, and I don’t think the result at Leicester (on Thursday) necessarily damages us in terms of play-offs.
“But clearly we’ve got to win our home matches, and we’ve got to pick up some aggregate points along the way, along with maybe a couple more away wins.
“We tried a riding order specifically for Leicester, which didn’t really work, but we’re sticking with Jan (Kvech) at No.2 for this meeting with Bomber (Chris Harris) at three, and Ben (Cook) is moving to five.”
Aces youngster Will Cairns said: “We’re good at home, and we’re good away! I feel like all the boys are starting to click now, including me – the penny has dropped and it’s going well.
“We’re not quite as strong away as we are at home, and I play a part in that because a few of these tracks I’ve never even ridden – or I’ve ridden them and it’s completely different in a Premiership meeting to a National League meeting.
“So we’ve definitely got work to do on the road, but I think if we continue thrashing teams at home it gives us a nice big lead and breathing room for sure.”

NORTHAMPTON host Sheffield tonight (Monday) with the home side still searching for their second win of the season at the Shaleway.
Meanwhile the Tigers enter the meeting outside the play-off places and they return to the venue where they secured a dramatic late victory in their previous appearance.
The Foxes name a full-strength side whilst the visitors have recruited Ryan Douglas to guest for injured No.1 Jack Holder, and skipper Josh Pickering races at Northampton for the first time.
Northampton manager Chris Adams said: “We sit here now at the halfway stage of the season with three points to our name, but looking back at previous meetings this could easily be eleven or twelve.
“We have to stay focused and concentrate on the second half now, which comprises a lot more home matches for ourselves, and I’m confident our tally will grow as we get more regular home fixtures.”
Pickering said: “We were so annoyed and very disappointed with coming away from Ipswich on Thursday with nothing – but that’s gone now.
“For me, Northampton is a must win. I haven’t been there yet so it’s new territory for me – but I don’t mind that.
“But the boys had a good result there not so long back and we need something similar again on Monday.”
