TIGERS’ TEAM RESHUFFLE
SHEFFIELD have made two final team changes ahead of their transfer window closing.
Aussie duo Nick Morris and Jye Etheridge join the Tigers with Lewi Kerr and Justin Sedgmen making way as they look to boost their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership title hopes.
Morris is due to return to UK racing this weekend with Berwick after a two-year suspension, whilst Etheridge is already a popular man with the Owlerton faithful after scoring a brilliant 9+1 as a guest in their famous 2023 Grand Final comeback against Ipswich.
Sheffield promoter Damien Bates said: “Both Lewi and Justin have shown the odd glimpse here and there, but the consistency just hasn’t been there unfortunately.
“We’re bitterly disappointed it hasn’t worked out but Thursday night against Leicester especially just wasn’t good enough.
“Nick has had a couple of years away from racing but he’s raring to go and he’s keen to make up for that lost time.
“Jye has shown his liking for the Sheffield track in the past, his confidence is high at the minute because he’s putting in some solid scores for Workington and he’s keen to grab his chance.”

CAB Direct Championship leaders Poole host Oxford tonight (Wednesday) in a repeat of last season’s Grand Final at Wimborne Road.
Despite the Pirates taking the league title last autumn, the Cheetahs have a good record in Dorset having won the equivalent league clash in August 2024, and they are also the only visiting team to win an away match at Poole this year, with their BSN Series victory in early May.
The Pirates name a full-strength side as they look to extend their lead at the top after being restricted to the aggregate point in a narrow defeat at Redcar last Friday.
Meanwhile the Cheetahs have Zaine Kennedy guesting for the injured Jordan Jenkins, but they are boosted by the availability of Jonas Knudsen and Francis Gusts who had been set to miss the match until the early postponement of fixtures in Denmark.
Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “I really enjoy these local rivalry meetings, not so much when we lose, as the team well knows, and I am certain that our boys will be out to right that early season blip.
“I think we learnt a lot from that meeting. Disappointing as the result was, we came out the other side overall looking a much more resilient side, as our current league position shows.”
Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “We have a good record down there and we will be going back to do our best and give it our all. “It is a tough league, and I will concentrate on the Cheetahs and not worry about what the other teams are doing.”
POOLE: Richard Lawson, Tobias Thomsen, Lewis Kerr, Zach Cook, Anders Rowe, Paul Starke, Will Cairns.
OXFORD: Sam Masters, Cameron Heeps, Zaine Kennedy, Mitch McDiarmid, Jonas Knudsen, Luke Killeen, Francis Gusts.

BRITISH Youth rider Casper Kluczniak again excelled in the second round of the 500R Deli Tire Cup which was held at the Slovakian venue of Zarnovica on Saturday.
Kluczniak scored 11 points to finish in fourth place on the night, but having already secured sixth place in Round 1 he is now currently joint second in the standings on 21 points with two rounds to go.
He said: “Again it was a good event for me, and I am really pleased to have competed against this really tough competition.
“Consistency is the key and so far I have finished sixth and fourth and am currently challenging for the Championship at the halfway stage, so I could not be more pleased.
“As well as being joint second in this competition I am currently leading the British Youth Championship in the 250cc class so I’m hoping that the second half of my season is as good as the first half has been.”
German rider Tyler Haupt won again in Zarnovica so leads the series on 29 points with Kluczniak and Bartlomiej Kubica from Poland heading the chasing pack, both on 21 points.
The third round of the competition takes places at the Daugavpils venue in Latvia on August 6.
