SEDGMEN REPLACES WOFFINDEN AT SHEFFIELD
SHEFFIELD have made a double signing in order to return to a seven-rider team following the serious injuries suffered by Tai Woffinden last month.
Woffinden is out of hospital and is making remarkable progress, but he still faces a lengthy rehabilitation period as the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership season goes on.
The Tigers have moved to bring in Justin Sedgmen and Lewis Kerr, both of whom have had previous spells at Owlerton, with Danyon Hume the unlucky rider to make way.
Manager Simon Stead said: “We’ve had to change the dynamics of our line-up but I think we’ve found a sensible solution and formed a new look to our team that still leaves us in a really strong position to challenge again this year.
“Both Justin and Lewi are really excited, they’re extremely keen to be back in the top division and to be back with Sheffield where they’ll both feel they’ve got unfinished business and where they’ve already got such a good rapport with people around the club.
“We’d like to place on record our thanks to Danyon who is simply the unfortunate victim of the position and situation we’ve found ourselves in.”

BSN Series holders Poole finally open their home campaign tonight (Wednesday) when they host Plymouth at Wimborne Road.
The Pirates were frustrated by the weather on Good Friday but they already have two points on the board from their Super Heat triumph at Oxford, whilst the Gladiators were beaten at home by the Cheetahs at the Coliseum on Saturday.
Visitors’ No.1 Nicolai Klindt makes his first return to Poole since riding for the club during their last seasons at Premiership level in 2018-19.
Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “It was a good result for us at Oxford, and from that meeting alone we can see that there is a great deal more to come from this side.
“I know they are keen to get going in front of a home crowd and just as we have with Oxford, there is always the bragging rights to go for when we ride against Plymouth.
“It is a few years since Nicolai last rode here for us in the Premiership, but we saw then what he is capable of as he regularly returned double figures, and I am convinced that they will be aiming to put us to the sword.”
POOLE: Richard Lawson, Tobias Thomsen, Anders Rowe, Zach Cook, Lewis Kerr, Paul Starke, Matt Marson.
PLYMOUTH: Nicolai Klindt, Alfie Bowtell, Mitchell Cluff, Joe Thompson, Ben Barker, Lasse Fredriksen, Ben Trigger.
