LIONS’ TOUGH ASSIGNMENT
LEICESTER star Ryan Douglas is adamant there will still be a big battle for the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership title when the second leg of the Grand Final takes place on Monday (September 30).
The Lions face an 18-point deficit against Belle Vue after going down 54-36 at the National Speedway Stadium this week, before Thursday’s scheduled second leg was postponed – but their home wins over the Aces this season have been by margins of 16 and 20 points.
Douglas said: “We’re still hungry and we still hope we can do something in the second leg, and we’ll see what happens.
“It’s definitely still do-able, everyone steps up in the play-offs but we’re going to have to be firing 100 per cent.”

SCUNTHORPE will operate rider replacement at No.1 for Michael Palm Toft when they stage the first leg of the BSN Series Final against Poole on Sunday.
The Scorpions suffered a recent Cab Direct KO Cup defeat to the Pirates as well as exiting the play-offs to Oxford, but they returned to winning ways at home against Edinburgh in the BSN semi-finals, and they will put their faith in their six remaining riders to cover Palm Toft’s absence.
Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Michael riding through his injuries, as he had been doing, wasn’t working, so I think we’re in a better position this time to beat Poole and open up a first leg lead and then hopefully it will all go down to the second leg on Wednesday
“Poole finished top of the Championship and are probably the team to beat this year, so we’ve got to beat them, simple as.”
