SPEEDWAY INTERNATIONAL MASTERS: IMPRESSIVE RIDER LINE-UP
LEIGH ADAMS IMPRESSED BY RIDER LINE-UP FOR IKON SUSPENSION INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY MASTERS
Australian speedway legend, Leigh Adams, says he is “very impressed” with the rider line-up assembled to contest the Ikon Suspension International Speedway Masters, at Gillman Speedway, on December 28.
Adams, one of the sport’s all-time greats, will be honoured at the #ISM24 on night two, which features a world class field of 500cc solo stars contesting the Leigh Adams Medal, created as a tribute to the ten-time Australian Champion and former international super star.
In addition to winning ten Australian Championship, the Aussie speedway icon, is an eight-time Speedway Grand Prix winner, a multiple World Team Cup Champion, four-time Australian Under-21 Champion and the 1992 Individual Under 21 World Champion.
Adams’ glittering career also saw him amass six wins in the Victorian Championship, three victories in the Series 500 International Speedway Masters, the 1993 Commonwealth Final and a host of major international events in individual and teams’ competition.
The Ikon Suspension International Speedway Masters, being conducted at Gillman Speedway Stadium, on December 27 and 28, this year, features the best sidecars in the world (the Darrin Treloar Cup) on night one and the Leigh Adams Medal, on night two, December 28.
Leigh and his family will be special guests, on both nights of the #ISM24 and amongst a plethora of special activities, Adams will feature in a stunning video/big screen package, produced as a tribute to his stellar career.
The mini documentary will also feature on the live-stream coverage and the television shows screening nationally on Fox Sports, Kayo and Foxtel GO.
Leigh Adams, a product of junior speedway in his hometown of Mildura, says he is extremely impressed with the rider line-up that has been assembled for the event named in his honour.
“Wow it’s looking very good,” Leigh enthused.
“To see six countries competing is incredible and the sport has not seen anything like this for many years.
“The field includes several World Champions in individual competition, World Team Cup, and the Speedway of Nations, so it will be a cracker of a meeting.
“All the top Aussie boys, including Jason Doyle, Chris Holder, Jack Holder, Max Fricke and Jaimon Lidsey, to name just some, will have to be at their best, because the foreign contingent heading to Gillman is impressive.
“Guys like Jan Kvech (Czech), Luke Becker (USA), Tom Brennan (GB) and Jonas Jeppesen (DNK), will be very keen to mix it, and they can steal points off the established Aussie stars. They cannot be underestimated.
“Then there is the Pole, Kacper Grzelak and young Sam Hagon (GB), who have nothing to lose, so they’ll provide real nuisance value. Hagon has improved a lot this year and Grzelak will be fast and brave, typical of Polish riders.
“All in all, the #ISM24 will produce a show people will not want to miss. I cannot wait and I love that Tappy has brought the International Speedway Masters back onto the national speedway calendar,” Leigh concluded.
The confirmed riders are – Jonas Jeppesen (DNK), Tom Brennan (GB), Jack Holder (NSW), Sam Masters (NSW) Jason Doyle (NSW), Chris Holder (NSW), Jan Kvech (Czech), Max Fricke (VIC), Sam Hagon (GB), Luke Becker (USA), Fraser Bowes (NSW), Kacper Grzelak (POL), Luke Killeen (WA), Jack Morrison (VIC) and Jaimon Lidsey (VIC).
Only one rider berth remains in the elite field. Stay Tuned.
