WA CHAMPION LUKE KILLEEN TO CONTEST INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY MASTERS
Reigning West Australian Champion and emerging international rider, Luke Killeen, has been signed to contest the Ikon Suspension International Speedway Masters at Gillman Speedway.
The nineteen year old speedster, will compete in the Leigh Adams Medal, for international 500cc solos, on night two (December 28) of the #ISM24 blockbuster.
Killeen, who’s currently enjoying a fantastic season abroad, commenced racing at the age of five, in the 50cc class at Pinjar Park in Perth.
In 2020, Luke won the U16 125cc Australian Championship, before continuing his dramatic rise through the ranks, with a sensational victory in the 2024 Senior West Australian Championship.
A career overseas, beckoned, thus Luke embarked on his first international campaign in 2022, riding for the Oxford Chargers. Then, in 2023, the young West Aussie, rode for the Oxford Chargers and the Oxford Cheetahs in British League racing. He also signed a deal in Poland to ride with the Wroclaw Under 24 Team.
This year, Killeen is contesting a gruelling schedule riding for the Oxford Chargers, Oxford Cheetahs and the Oxford Spires in the UK, scoring points in abundance.
“Luke Killeen is amongst the new generation of Australian speedway riders making a name for himself abroad,” said ISM24 organiser, David Tapp.
“He’s currently capturing the attention of many good judges in the sport and I’m rapt to give him a crack against many of the world’s best riders at Gillman.
“When I spoke to him on the phone over the weekend, it took Luke all of thirty seconds to commit to the December 28 event”.
Luke Killeen (WA) joins – Kacper Grzelak (POL), Jonas Jeppesen (DNK), Tom Brennan (GB), Jack Holder (NSW), Sam Masters (NSW) Jason Doyle (NSW), Chris Holder (NSW), Jan Kvech (Czech), Max Fricke (VIC), Sam Hagon (GB), Luke Becker (USA), Fraser Bowes (SA) and Jaimon Lidsey (VIC) as the riders announced so far. The final two names will be release in coming days.
