FORMER NATIONAL CHAMPION SAM MASTERS TO RIDE IN THE IKON SUSPENSION ISM
Former Australian Champion, 33 year old, Novocastrian, Sam Masters, is the latest international rider to be added to the field for the Ikon Suspension International Speedway Masters.
Masters will appear on night two (December 28), of the ISM24, being staged at Gillman Speedway Stadium, joining an elite field contesting the Leigh Adams Medal.
Sam, winner of the Australian Championship in 2017, has an extensive international resume, having been contracted to a host of British Clubs, since debuting with Somerset in 2010.
Masters’ other British clubs have included Poole, King’s Lynn, Edinburgh, Leicester, Wolverhampton and his current team, the Oxford Cheetahs.
Sam has also gained considerable experience participating in league racing in Poland, Sweden and Denmark. Meanwhile, his other achievements include victories in the British Division 2 Riders’ Championship (twice), the NSW and Victorian Speedway Championships and the Scottish Open.
The hard-charging Masters, has ridden in three SGPs and four World Cup events.
“I’m stoked to be included in the field for the International Speedway Masters,” Sam said from his UK base.
“I really enjoy racing in Australia and it’s impossible not be excited about the season ahead back home.
“Last summer, in Australia, I had issues with getting my number one bike back home in time to contest the Australian Championship, which cheesed me off.
“There’ll be no such issues this time around and I can’t wait to get home and prepare for the ISM24 and the other meetings that I’ll be doing.”
Sam Masters (NSW) joins an elite line up, which includes; Chris Holder (NSW), Jason Doyle (NSW), Jaimon Lydsey (VIC), Max Fricke (VIC), Fraser Bowes (SA), Jack Holder (NSW), Jan Kvech (CZECH), Luke Becker (USA) and Sam Hagon (GB), as the solo riders announced so far.
Further rider announcements will be made in coming days.
