EUREKA GARAGES AND SHEDS SERIES HEADS TO THE HEARTLAND
by SRA Media
The Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series is excited to be heading north of the Murray River this Saturday night, February 4, to repay the faith shown by Heartland Raceway, Moama, track promotion.
It’s round eight of the series after numerous rain outs and reschedules marred the championship trail from getting there earlier this season.
“Dave Roberts and his crew at Heartland Raceway have always been very accommodating to the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series and we’re looking forward to a great night to repay him for his support earlier this season,” said Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria President Ian Vale.
“A majority of the top 20 in the series standings are set to appear along with a number of interstate raiders from New South Wales and Tasmania while the race for the series championship really starts to heat up with only a handful of rounds remaining,” confirmed Vale.
With seven rounds in the record books and a majority of the big races complete, the bulk of the interest centres around the series battle with Terry Rankin headed to Heartland Raceway leading the standings aiming to stretch the points lead ahead of seven time series champion Matthew Reed who’s hot on his heels in the runner up spot.
Impressively a series rookie Jordy Rae sits fourth in points ahead of Tasmania’s Tim Hutchins and while the pair are quite different in terms of their Sprintcar experience, both Rae and Hutchins have been superb throughout the first seven rounds and will be looking for more strong results on Saturday night.
Also in the mix will be Ashley Cook, Chris Solomon and Eddie Lumbar as this trip to Heartland Raceway will be the closest thing to a home track advantage the Deniliquin native will experience as he accumulates the most kilometres in his support of the domestic Victorian series.
Although just outside of the series top 10, Brayden Parr, Kevin Reeves and Mitch Smith will be pushing hard to make ground on the top end of the standings.
New South Wales pair Chris McInerney and Jackson Delamont will be strong contenders with both looking to capture the round win at Heartland Raceway on their return to their home base of Young from the Warrnambool Classic.
Another exciting inclusion is a young rising prospect out of Tasmania Brody Appleby who’ll continue his season on the mainland following his debut in December. Appleby has shown some fine improvement as the season wears on, competing with larger fields on the mainland.
In more exciting news for the Heartland Raceway Sprintcar fans, the C&H Trucking Sprintcars Limited Series will also be in action – and that means Eddie Lumbar and Jordy Rae face double duty on the night competing in both classes. They’ll be keen to beat the current series leader Charles Hunter whose round 1 win at Avalon Raceway was superb with Sam Wren and Andy Hibbert among the leading contenders from a strong entry list.
It’s set to be an exciting night at Heartland Raceway with more than 35 Sprintcars across the two divisions set to compete for the spoils of victory plus the important series points.
