VEAL LEADS TOTAL TOOLS WARRNAMBOOL TITLE
Round seven of the Total Tools Warrnambool Sprintcar Track Championship as presented by the Midfield Group and Fitz Media Productions will be held at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool this Friday night, March 4, with a familiar face now atop the points standings.
With a $10,000.00 pay day on the line, Jamie Veal has scored 718 points from the opening six rounds, with Grant Anderson 32 points adrift of Veal in second.
Friday night will double as Round 10 of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series, which means 18 cars will qualify for the A-Main. The winning driver will collect 150 Track Championship points, with second set to receive 148, third 146 and so on.
The 18th place finisher will receive 116 points, meaning a differential of 34 points, plus the bonus four points to the driver who leads the most laps and it shows that the need to not only make the A-Main but to also record a strong result is paramount for those drivers with designs of taking home the $10,000 pay day.
With a maximum of three rounds of the Total Tools Track Championship remaining, Anderson, third place driver Tate Frost (674 points), Corey McCullagh (662) and Eureka Series points leader Daniel Pestka, will be hoping that Veal endures a tougher than usual night at the track somewhere along the way.
With 40 entries locked and loaded for Friday night including some drivers who are simply chasing the A-Main victory such as Ian Madsen, Marcus Dumesny and come back kid Stephen Bell along with a strong support cast for the Formula 500 Jack Willsher Cup, it really is a case of Friday night is Speedway night this week at Sungold Stadium.
Public gates will open at 4pm with the later than usual Friday night start time of 6pm slated to accommodate those who have to work or complete a school day first to give as many as possible a chance to come along and enjoy the show.
Tickets can be found at www.premierspeedway.com.au or can be purchased at the gate from 4pm on race day.
