Twenty-six cars entered for round eight of the Mainline DynoLog Dynamometers All Stars Series, won by Steve Caruso, at B&S Earthworks Timmis Speedway on Saturday night, February 26.
In fact it was Team Caruso who finished in positions one and two after Steve’s brother Mark filled the runner-up position, while Todd Moule earned his first Sprintcar podium with a solid drive into third placing.
Chad Ely won the TEH Hard charger Award with a strong fourth. This was a magnificent effort after entered the main event via the B-Main. Local Mildura based driver Corey Sandow rounded out the top five.
Sandow, who won his first heat, also earned the Hunter Hire Quickest Time Award in a very rewarding result for the team.
Lined up on the front row of the A-Main were Steve Caruso and Lisa Walker. Walker, who leased a 360 for the night, got the start at the green. She was the leader for the first few laps but then had a moment in turn four and brought on the yellow lights. Walker restarted at the rear of the field, but still managed to work her way up to finish eighth in an impressive drive.
Sandow, Mark Caruso, Jordyn Charge and Todd Moule all swapped positions throughout the 30 lap feature race. With only a few laps remaining, Charge bought on the yellows when his top wing collapsed and ultimately he did not finish the race.
Brendan Guerin, Brad Warren, Lisa Walker, Phil Lock all figured in their own battles for the minors.
Ben Morris’s team worked hard to get HCC ‘Maxie’s Keep on Fighting Award’.
Morris won his first heat, mechanical issues then made him drop his second heat and the team then changed a ladder and torque tube before the B-Main.
They finished the ‘B’ with more mechanical problems and called for the two minute rule to be applied before they got the car out on the track in time.
Cam Waters’ night didn’t turn out the way he wanted after tagging the wall out of turn two and damaged the chassis that sidelined him for the rest of the night. Waters is a regular with the Series but will have to miss next weekend’s show at Mount Gambier with Supercar commitments at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Motor Sport Park.
With round two of the Flocon Methanol Moonshine Masters now run, Steven Caruso is at the top of the leader board with a first and second placing at Mildura so far with the final set for Easter’s Good Friday night.
Heat race wins went to:
Hayden Pitt, Todd Hobson, Steven Caruso x 2, Corey Sandow, and Todd Moule
