SUPER SEDAN SERIES AT LISMORE SPEEDWAY

Josh McLaren takes a 190 point lead into round 11 of the McCosker Super Sedan Series at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway, Saturday night February 19.

McClaren (1722 points) and second placed in the current standings Justin Randall (1532) have used their Joker double points round which adds even more interest to this upcoming event in the 19 round tournament.

Also within striking distance of the two front runners is Sean Black on 1508 points without the use of his double points option.

Black hauls into Lismore as a previous round winner following his success at Gympie earlier this month.

The top three hold a points break over Mitchell Gee (1298) who is only one point ahead of Steve Jordan (1297).

It sets the scene for one of the most important rounds of the McCosker Super Sedan Series as it moves past the half way point of the 2021-2022 season.

The series culminates on May 13 at Rockhampton Speedway.

“This looms as one of the most keenly contested rounds in the series,” a Super Sedan spokesperson said.“The series is still wide open, but from here on in every round is really vital, especially with many still to play their Joker.”

Series organisers have received 27 nominations for round 11 featuring many of the top names from the Queensland Super Sedan scene including Queensland’s multi National Super Sedan Champion Matt Pascoe.

It’s a big night for Lismore’s Zac Brims who recently graduated from four seasons racing Junior Sedans into the headlining, prominent Super Sedan class.

Brims, who turned 16 on February 2, will race a stove hot brand new Chevy Camaro Super Sedan out of the local Danny Smith Rocket workshop.

Zac entered the Junior Sedan ranks aged 12 and he says he owes so much to the Juniors for giving him the opportunity to race speedway.

“They are everything,” he enthused, “a platform to start off in speedway and a great learning curve.”

This weekend’s fixture at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway represents the first meeting under the promotional control of Pottsville’s Mick and Kim Sauer who officially purchased the venue from David Lander on Friday, February 11.
