WARREN GETS LONG AWAITED WIN
Brad Warren and the McClure Racing Team took out the main event win in the Mainline Dynolog Dynamometers All Stars Series at Blue Ribbon Raceway, Horsham this past weekend.
“It was good to do it for the McClure Racing team and sponsors, it’s been a long time coming and it’s also been a monkey on my back for a few years, it’s good to get a win and I think we earned it pretty good with Caruso, Pauly Solomon and the boys, they’re all fast guys and I’m pretty happy with a bit of confidence leading into the rest of the series”.
Warren went into the A-main as highest in points, starting off position one while Mark Caruso lined up beside him.
Paul Solomon, who locked in his 100th series round, started out of position three while young rookie Todd Hobson was in four.
Hobson was doing double duties competing in the Victorian Wingless Championship. Warren led the field into turn one then continued out front for the next 29 laps. Caruso pulled close enough to challenge for the lead through lapped traffic but the caution lights came on and, with a restart, he didn’t get the opportunity to repeat the challenge. Solomon came home in third place and Cam Waters passed Hobson for fourth in the latter stages as Hobson rounded out the top five.
Dave Donegan, Jordan Charge, Todd Moule all enjoyed good feature race results.
After starting the night on a high note, winning the HHH Quickest Time Award and a heat victory, Charles Hunter’s night ended early on lap four in the A-main after sustaining damage that forced him infield.
Jason Bolitho took a big crash bringing on the red lights. Steven Loader was also involved but managed to restart, despite some top wing damage before he ultimately spun to the infield with two laps remaining. Bolitho did not continue in the race following the crash.
Jarman Dalitz returned for his first run for the season with the series and after sorting out gremlins early in the night, he had a solid drive, moving up eight places in the feature race that earned him the TEH Hard Charger award.
“One of the highlights of the night for our team was to celebrate Pauly’s 100 round, presenting him with a cake at the drivers’ meeting, then getting him to do a tribute on the track with our pace car while all the teams applauded along the front straight. It was pretty special for us and no doubt pretty special for Paul also. Locky was the first to clock up 100 rounds a couple of season back and now we have two members of the 100 club,” tournament operator Mandy Searle explained.
Heat race wins went to – Steven Loader, Hayden Pitt, Brad Warren, and Charles Hunter.
