BRITISH SPEEDWAY OCTOBER 2
Date: Saturday October 2, 2021
BRITISH Speedway is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a true stalwart of the sport, Colin Pratt, at the age of 82.
Colin passed away early this morning after a brave battle against illness over the past year.
A former rider, manager, management committee member and promoter, Colin did almost everything in speedway and commanded respect from everyone in the sport.
Earlier this year he became the first inductee in the British Speedway Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements in the sport.
During his riding career he raced in the 1967 World Final at Wembley and two World Team Cups.
He was joint manager of England when they won the World Team Cup in 1989 and won several Knockout Cups when in charge of Cradley Heath.
He moved to Coventry as co-promoter where he won three league titles, two knockout cups and a Craven Shield.
Since then Colin has been co-promoter at Swindon before switching to Peterborough to be closer to his Norfolk base and he remained as co-promoter at Alwalton.
The directors and members of British Speedway Promoters Ltd would like to pass on their sincere condolences to Colin’s family at this very sad time.
