BELLE Vue have brought in Danish racer Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen on a short-term deal to replace the injured Richie Worrall.
The Dane had a spell with the Aces in 2019 and will return to the Manchester side in Monday’s home and away double against Wolverhampton, as Worrall recovers from a fractured metacarpal.
Manager Mark Lemon said: “We’re delighted to welcome back Nikolaj on a temporary basis while Richie is recovering from the injury to his hand.
“The fact that we are now assured of our spot in the play-offs doesn’t mean we are prepared to take our foot off the gas; if anything, now is the time for us to really step things up.”

PLYMOUTH have moved quickly to sign Richard Lawson following the withdrawal of Championship rivals Eastbourne from this year’s competition.
Lawson comes in for the Gladiators at the expense of Jason Edwards and is set to make his debut at Leicester on Saturday.
Promoter Mark Phillips said: “I’m delighted that Richard is joining us for the remainder of the season. He is an exciting rider and will bring even more experience to the team.
“He has already guested for us on a few occasions so knows our set-up well. We have now been able to construct the team around actual averages instead of assessed ones.”

BRITISH Under-21 Champion Tom Brennan has signed for Glasgow after his former club Eastbourne pulled out of the remainder of the season.
Brennan made a guest appearance for the Tigers on Friday but has now signed for the remainder of the campaign with Craig Cook and Ulrich Ostergaard currently on the sidelines.
He said: “I think you only have to have one look around the stadium to see how far Glasgow have come.
“What they’ve done in a short amount of time has been very good. The club have looked after me really well and I’m more than excited to begin this journey with them.
“The atmosphere here is amazing and the support you get is great. Hopefully I can work towards a long future with them.”

POOLE moved three points clear at the top of the Championship with a maximum haul from an impressive 50-40 win at Edinburgh.
Steve Worrall kept up his fine form for the Pirates with 11+1 from five rides whilst reserve Danyon Hume played a key role with 11 points including three race wins as all of the Pirates picked up at least one paid victory.
Home No.1 Sam Masters piled up 19 points from seven rides, taking extra outings as a tactical substitute and rider replacement, but the Monarchs’ tail was too long as they dropped more points at Armadale.
Pirates boss Gary Havelock said: “I am delighted with that result; it is a huge four points we have lifted tonight.
“It was a phenomenal effort by the lads especially when you consider that the two Bens (Cook and Basso) and Danyon haven’t ridden the place before. They all adjusted well and Danyon, in particular, was simply superb.
“I can say without any doubt that tonight was the best night I have had managing Poole Pirates. I have been absolutely loving the job standing in on the northern circuits for Middlo (Neil Middleditch).”
Masters said: “They’re not only the form team in the league but they are really good here at Armadale. Also, we didn’t have Richie (Worrall) who is one of the best riders on this track.
“If we’re using rider replacement and some riders aren’t on, it’s tough man! We all tried hard, but it wasn’t enough.”

REDCAR fought back from eight points down to edge out Scunthorpe 47-42 in an eventful clash at the Media Prima Arena.
The Bears are second in the table thanks to a last-heat 5-1 from Jake Allen and Charles Wright, whilst the Scorpions picked up a useful league point.
Allen scored 15 points for the home side whilst Michael Palm Toft added 11. Adam Ellis top-scored with the visitors with 12, and Simon Lambert notched 10+2.

GLASGOW climbed back to third place in the Championship with a comfortable 54-36 win over Berwick.
Former Tigers favourite Richard Lawson proved an able deputy for Craig Cook with 12+1, and boss Cami Brown says they can now head into forthcoming away matches with confidence.
He said: “It was tight at first, but we didn’t expect anything less. The guys have been tremendous – everybody has contributed.
“I think Tom Brennan has been really unlucky with having a fall in his first race, and his No.1 bike blew in his third race. I think we’ll see a lot more from him in the future.
“We needed three points to get us kicking off again. We go away from home next week and we’ll go with confidence. It’s going to be really difficult at Poole and Leicester, but we’ll give it our best.”
Berwick reserve Kasper Andersen piled up a highly impressive 16+1 from seven rides and Leon Flint won his opening two outings – but No.1 Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen failed to score.
Boss Gary Flint said: “Poor Nikolaj had a complete mare when we know he’s a class act, so tonight he can just forget about, we know he’ll come good again next time.
“Kasper was excellent again at reserve and got us important points all through the match, while Leon started like a train, but found things harder later on.
“But all in all, at the home of a club battling for the league title, this wasn’t half a bad Berwick performance. Pride to be had I think, just a shame we lost ground in the closing stages.”

BERWICK stage a challenge match at Shielfield Park tonight (Saturday) featuring members of their Championship and NDL teams.
The Bandits and the Bullets have been split into two six-man line-ups with Aaron Summers and Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen taking the respective No.1 positions.
Regular team manager Gary Flint takes charge of the Bandits, but his son Leon races for the Bullets who are managed by co-promoter Scott Courtney.
