SPEEDWAY GP LEADER LAMBERT SET FOR SHOULDER PHYSIO

Speedway GP World Championship leader Robert Lambert is undergoing physio treatment on a shoulder injury after opting out of the Bauhaus Elitserien play-off final, first leg on Tuesday night, September 14.

Lambert currently leads the FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship on 142 points – one ahead of Bartosz Zmarzlik (141) and three clear of Brady Kurtz (139) going into the title-deciding DEWALT FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Torun on September 26.

Malilla club Dackarna defeated Lambert’s side Vastervik 47-43 at the Skrotfrag Arena, with Artem Laguta starring for the home side on 13 paid 14 points, while Patryk Dudek tallied 12. Last-minute signing Max Fricke raced to 11 paid 12 for Vastervik as he covered for Lambert.

The Torun skipper was involved in a crash in heat four of the Polish champions’ 58-32 PGE Ekstraliga play-off semi-final, second leg win at home to Lublin, which set up a play-off final showdown with Wroclaw. Lambert clashed with Speedway GP rival Fredrik Lindgren going into turn one and fell, and he is set for physio ahead of the play-off final, first leg at the Marian Rose Motoarena on Sunday.

Posting on Instagram on Tuesday evening, Lambert wrote: “A bit of an eventful meeting on Sunday. Started the evening with a crash but managed to push through the pain and carry on.

“Most importantly, we secured our place in the final for Torun, so the main goal was achieved. Now it’s time to bring it home.

“I’ve picked up a bit of damage to my shoulder, so this week is all about working hard with the physio, getting everything right and being ready for the final.

“Good luck to Vastervik in the first leg of the final! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed and hoping to see you all next Tuesday.”
