MAXi CAB KO CUP FINAL DATES SET
BERWICK and Plymouth have agreed dates for the MAXiCab KO Cup Final this autumn.
This year’s Cup silverware at Championship level is to be fought out between two clubs who have not reached the league play-offs, and there will be huge incentive for both to put the trophy into their cabinet.
Berwick are making their ninth appearance in the Final but their first since 1989 when they won the silverware against Poole, their only other previous triumph having come against Middlesbrough in 1980.
Meanwhile Plymouth have reached the Final for the first time at this level, although they were Cup winners in the third tier back in 2008.
Berwick, who defeated Workington and holders Poole to reach this stage, will host the first leg at Sheffield Park on Saturday September 26.
The tie will then be concluded at the Coliseum on Saturday October 10, with Plymouth having defeated Glasgow and Redcar to make the Final.

GLASGOW ended Plymouth’s mathematical play-off chances by taking the aggregate point at the Coliseum in a Super Heat on Tuesday.
The Gladiators won the match 49-41 to move up to fifth in the Cab Direct Championship table, but they are now four points off the top four with one match remaining.
Joe Thompson scored a four-ride paid maximum (8+4) for the home side, and reserve Anze Grmek impressed with 11+1, whilst the Tigers’ top two of Chris Harris (15+1) and Leon Flint (10+1) brought their side level on aggregate with advantages in Heats 13 and 15.
Although Gladiators guest Troy Batchelor won the Super Heat, Harris and Flint remained ahead of Thompson to secure a point for the Tigers, who are now second in the table.
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “I’m naturally disappointed with the result. We had too many passengers again and that keeps costing us big time.
“But I’m delighted that we managed to pick up the aggregate point. That could be really important and that was our minimum target tonight.
“Thankfully Chris and Leon have been outstanding and they kept us in the meeting and forced it to a Super Heat to decide the aggregate bonus point.
“Our guest Vinnie Foord was also excellent and Freddy Hodder is contributing which is good to see.”
(SPEEDWAY 3)
POOLE will look to clinch top spot in the Cab Direct Championship with a home win over Plymouth at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).
The Pirates have already safely qualified for the play-offs and their unbeaten sequence on their own track now stretches to 28 matches, dating back to May 2025.
They name a full-strength line-up whilst the Gladiators once again track Troy Batchelor at No.1 for the injured Scott Nicholls.
Poole co-promoter Dan Ford said: “We won’t be taking Plymouth lightly, we know from past experience that they can come here and push us all the way.
“It was only a four-point win in the BSN Series way back on Good Friday when we launched our season, and of course they come here with Danny King who was a major part of Poole in recent seasons and certainly knows how to ride our place.”
