FIM SPEEDWAY: POLISH RACER WORYNA: LEARNING ON THE JOB AHEAD OF LODZ WEEKEND

Polish action man Kacper Woryna is determined to build on his debut season in the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series as he prepares for the FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Lodz on Saturday.
The Moto Arena Lodz – one of world track racing’s finest venues – stages its first-ever Speedway GP event, with Polish hero Bartosz Zmarzlik bidding to extend his five-point lead at the top of the standings over Aussie ace Brady Kurtz, who hopes to make use of his local knowledge after racing for local club Orzel Lodz from 2020 until 2022.
Flying the Polish flag alongside Zmarzlik, European champion Patryk Dudek and Dominik Kubera, Woryna heads to Lodz on a huge high after guaranteeing his spot in the 2027 Speedway GP series with third place at the 2026 FIM SGP Challenge in Terenzano, Italy last Saturday night.
He qualified for this year’s competition as runner-up of the 2025 FIM SGP Challenge in Holsted, Denmark and has made a great impact, winning the series-opening Schwaiger & Partner FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Landshut on May 2.
Woryna heads to Lodz placed fifth in the Speedway GP World Championship on 55 points and has won plenty of fans with his daredevil debut-season performances in the series.
The Lublin and Lejonen star admits it has taken years of hard work to reach this level and is keen to continue learning on the world stage ahead of 2027.
He said: “My career didn’t explode in year one. It has been a chain of events that has built up and made me the rider I am today. I can say the hard work I have been doing for the past couple of years is paying off.
“But this is not the end. I want to keep working. The GP this season has been a tough lesson for me, but I like to call it a lesson because I gain so much experience from racing and facing all the difficulties that for me as a freshman are difficulties. Hopefully I can progress from that, and we will see what happens next.”
With just 13 points separating fifth placed Woryna from 12th-placed Jason Doyle, an epic battle to finish in the top seven and secure automatic qualification for the 2027 Speedway GP series is in prospect for the final four rounds of 2026. Woryna is relieved he has the safety net of having punched his 2027 ticket in Italy.
He said: “Anything can happen. It’s good to have it in the back of my head that I have some margin for error if things go sideways in Speedway GP. But I want to do better and better and progress throughout the year. Now I can comfortably enjoy the process.”
Even after years of racing in the world’s top leagues, Woryna admits life in Speedway GP has been an adventure.
He said: “Everything is completely different to any other individual meeting. You just have to experience it and see the different track conditions and grading. You have Qualifying and the press stuff that we are obligated to do.
“I am not moaning; I enjoy the GP days. It’s a really good day for me. But at the end of the night, it either makes you happy because of the result or not. There are plenty of things you have to focus on, but mainly the racing in general.”

LODZ FANZONE
Enjoy a packed programme of entertainment ahead of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series’ newest event in Lodz on Saturday.
The fanzone will be open in the area behind bends three and four at the Moto Arena Lodz from 13:00 CEST, and it features the official Speedway GP autograph session, where fans can meet all 18 riders from 16:30 and get some signatures or selfies.
There will be a motorcycle parade from Lodz city centre, with bikes gathering at the iconic Piotrkowska Street from 12:00, before leaving at 13:00. The bikes will arrive at the Moto Arena Lodz fanzone at around 13:25.
Meet Monster Energy athlete Patryk Dudek and grab some goodies at the Monster Energy Rig Riot from 17:00, featuring a special Lodz burnout.
As part of the Monster Energy Triple Crown, fans also have the chance to test their reflexes on the Monster Energy starting machine throughout the afternoon, with the fan that sets the fastest reaction time winning tickets to the FIM Torun Speedway GP, where they will battle it out for an exclusive trip to a world-class motorsport event in Valencia this November. There will also be Monster Energy FMX action in the fanzone at 15:45 and 17:30.

There will be a vintage speedway bikes exhibition, other photo opportunities, the We Love Speedway sign, food and drink stalls, the Speedway GP merchandise shop and much, much more.
The fanzone closes at 18:30 ahead of the opening ceremony at 18:45, with racing getting underway at around 19:00.
