FIM SPEEDWAY: BARTOSZ WINS WROCLAW: REGAINS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD!
Polish icon Bartosz Zmarzlik powered through a night of high drama to end his year-long wait for an FIM Speedway Grand Prix win in the DEWALT FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Wroclaw on Saturday, June 20.
The 300th SGP event in the series’ 31-year history may have been one of its most dramatic as Zmarzlik won the final to recapture the FIM Speedway World Championship lead from Australian star Brady Kurtz, who finished fourth. (Zmarzlik now holds a three point advantage over Kurtz).
It was Zmarzlik’s first SGP win since he topped the podium at ATPI FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Manchester R5 on June 14, 2025.
British champion Robert Lambert was second to achieve his first podium finish since he won the Deluxe Homeart FIM Speedway GP of Denmark – Vojens in September 2024. Danish star Michael Jepsen Jensen finished third as he reached a third SGP final in five rounds.
Racing was delayed by nearly two and a half hours as severe rain and thunderstorms struck the Olympic Stadium, flooding the track and pits.
The local fire brigade was drafted in to pump water from the pits, while officials and track staff worked miracles to deliver a night of great racing for a circa 13,000, sell-out crowd, which saw a dramatic final completed shortly before midnight.
A more detailed report to follow.
