Todd Bayley and his team were one of the stars of last weekend’s (May 2-3) Australian Late Model Championship at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway in Queensland and it nearly saw them come away with being the first NSW-based winning driver in the event’s history.
The pilot of the NSW # 19 Eagle Earthworx / STM Trucks & Machinery supported Capital Race Cars machine was in fabulous form throughout the two-night event that was hampered by the wet weather and he went on to win the pole shuffle, start the Australian Championship deciding feature race from pole position and then go on to lead 38 and a half laps of the 40-lap event and eventually went on to finish in second.
“I’m not going to lie, finishing second after what we had done before that certainly hurts, not only for me but for the rest of the team, but I gave it everything I had out there and, in the end, Kye Blight was able to get me in the end and score the win,” expressed Bayley.
“I had a fantastic race car all weekend, and a huge credit must go to the work from the team at Capital Race Cars as they gave me a brand-new race car that was quick straight out of the box, and to come so close to winning the Australian Championship in its first run is a testament to the quality of their workmanship.”
Bayley continued by saying further thanks to his team for their massive efforts throughout their Australian Championship campaign.
“I can’t thank my team enough for all of their support and it was a shame that I couldn’t reward them with an Australian Championship win,” he said.
“Everyone in my team puts in a massive effort to make all of this happen, and none of this would be at all possible without their commitment to help keep the team’s wheels turning.”
Following their outstanding Australian Championship performance, Todd and the team now turns their focus to this weekend’s Queensland title at Gladstone Speedway. In what is going to be their second visit to the Gladstone Speedway venue, Todd and the team are going to be trying to go one spot better than their Australian Championship effort.
Todd would like to thank the following people for their support: Russ (Dad), wife Paige and the kids, Wayne, Cravo, Shane and Chad from Capital Race Cars, and Cush Clothing for sponsoring the Australian Championship.
