HOME TRACK START TO THE SEASON PLEASES HAGON
DOUBLE British Under-21 Champion Sam Hagon says racing in the Ben Fund Bonanza on Saturday at his new home track of Glasgow is the perfect way to start the season.
Hagon, who won both of his national titles at Ashfield, ended last year on the injury list but is now looking forward to lining up for the Tigers in the Cab Direct Championship.
He said: “I’ve always wanted to be a part of the Bonanza, I’ve been to loads of them as a kid, and the Ben Fund has helped me out with quite a lot.
“You don’t want to be in the situation of needing to use the fund but I’m happy with how they’ve helped me. Any injured rider past or present will agree it’s really good for the sport.
“I’m happy to have my first meeting of the year at Glasgow and it gives me some practice. It will be a tough meeting but it helps me prepare for the first team meeting at Edinburgh as well, which is a couple of weeks later on. It will help me get race ready.”
*SATURDAY’S big meeting at Glasgow will be streamed live by the British Speedway Network, making the event available to all supporters whether or not they can be at Ashfield on the day.
It’s not part of the BSN ‘Season Pass’ coverage and is a one-off event for £14.99.
The SRBF have been delighted with the contribution to their fundraising by BSN since the meeting was first streamed in 2023.
Passes are available from https://www.britishspeedwaynetwork.co.uk/ .

REDCAR have appointed Jason Edwards as their stand-in captain whilst Charles Wright recovers from his shoulder injuries.
Wright crashed out of the Bears’ season-opener at the Ecco Arena last week, with Nicolai Klindt coming into the team to replace him from the home clash with Scunthorpe tomorrow (Friday).
Edwards has ridden for the North-East club since 2022 and team boss Gavin Parr says he is the correct man for the job whilst Wright is sidelined.
Parr said: “We can only hope that the skipper makes a swift and full recovery to come back to lead his team.
“At Scunthorpe last Sunday Jason took over as captain and we are sure that the popular Essex lad will prove to be a good leader.”
