CASSIDY’S SEASON SET TO HEAT UP AT PERTH’S MOTORPLEX

Although the 2025-26 season has already brought a new career highlight with an Australian AMCA National Championship victory, Daniel Cassidy will finish the season with a jam-packed schedule between AMCA Nationals and Late Model competition, which includes an exciting new opportunity within the Late Model ranks.
The 29-year-old from Maitland, NSW, recently announced he will be joining the Perth, Western Australia-based CTM Recruitment Racing team owned by Rob Wells for next month’s Western Australian title and the Late Model Nationals over two weekends at the Perth Motorplex.
“I’m really looking forward to joining the CTM Recruitment Racing team and tackling one of the biggest fortnights of the season for Late Models, and I’d like to thank Rob Wells for this fantastic opportunity to join his team,” expressed Cassidy.
“The Late Model competition over in Western Australia is very strong and I’m coming over to test myself against them. There are no two ways about it, I’m heading over to be a front running contender every night, and Rob (Wells) shares those same thoughts, and he is going to be doing everything in his power to help me.”
Running similar equipment to his family-owned car, Cassidy will be steering a Masterbilt racer for the CTM Recruitment Racing team, which he will be receiving direct technical support from Masterbilt in America. This development has filled Cassidy with plenty of confidence heading over for his first visit to Western Australia.
Apart from his Western Australian trip with the CTM Recruitment Racing team, Cassidy is going to run his family-owned car in a busy end-of-season schedule in Late Models that includes the Australian title at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway in Queensland. The Toowoomba Speedway track has been a happy hunting ground for Cassidy in the past, which includes winning last season’s Queensland Championship in Late Models and finishing second in last season’s Australian title in the AMCA Nationals, so he’s aiming to continue that form throughout the Australian Late Model Title weekend.
Heading into this current season, Cassidy had mapped out a schedule that was concentrating on his Late Model program; however, in the lead up to the busy Christmas-New Year period, he was offered an opportunity to run the Mark and Kylie Eveleigh-owned AMCA National for them which was an offer too good to refuse.
The Eveleigh’s new car was built by Daniel’s dad, Greg Cassidy, so that made the decision even easier to get onboard. In what was an awesome debut, Cassidy ended up scoring a victory in the annual Andrew Walker Memorial at Grafton Speedway over the Christmas-New Year period, and this led to the Cassidy and Eveleigh duo entering the Australian title at Lismore Speedway with plenty of confidence. After finishing second in last season’s event, Cassidy was a front-running contender throughout the weekend, and he went on to pick up the Australian crown in impressive fashion. In what was an emotional occasion, it was the first Australian Championship claimed by a Cassidy family member in AMCA Nationals in an association with the class that began during the formation of the division back in the late 1990s. For the Eveleigh family, this was their third Australian Championship win in speedway after previously claiming two Australian titles with Stuart Herne in the V8 Dirt Modified class.
“Winning an Australian title for the first time was a massive moment for my whole family, and what made it even more special was the fact that it was in AMCA Nationals, as dad had tried on many occasions to claim the Australian Title over the years in the class, but it never quite worked out for him,” commented Daniel Cassidy.
“Although I had quite a fair few challenges over the Australian Title weekend, as I was sick and was close to pulling out of the whole event and also the team and I were chasing a few mechanical issues with the car, to still be able to come out on top and claim the Australian Title certainly made it all the more satisfying.”
